I don't really think Koscheck has any chance here.

Fitch vs Maia all over again? I don't think you can compare Koscheck's submission defence to Fitch's

Maia will choke him out and he can motorboat his own ass all the way to Bellator.

While I agree this seems like a mismatch, especially rankingswise, I don't think it would go like Maia/Fitch. Kos knows he's not as good a grappler as Fitch but he's more athletic with a lot more KO power. I think it would look a lot more like Davis/Vinny.

Oh and Greg I downthumbed you for ruining my belief that that was an official poster :)   I think it's much better than most. Maybe they'll use it. I like the understatedness (is that a word?)

This is definitely a must-win for Koscheck.  I wanna give him a chance but, Maia has just gone beast mode since moving down to WW.

@jaff Koscheck doesn't need good sub defense. Maia went for 2 subs the whole Fitch fight. Other then getting humped for 3 rounds Koscheck has nothing to worry about. If Kos can keep it standing he'll win but if Maia takes him down and humps him he'll lose the decision which will probably get him cut.

I think it will be like Fitch/Maia.  But I think Maia will get the submission this time.  Fitch doesn't require air to breathe but Koscheck does.  But I don't think the UFC will cut Josh.  They like him too much.  And people pay to watch him get beat.

@p4p Koscheck doesn't need good submission defense against Maia? Good luck with that opinion.

@jaffa Kos has way better TDD than Fitch so he might not need sub defense in this fight, hope Maia wins this if not they destroyed a great looking contender in Maia with a stupid match up.

I mean Kos is on a 2 fight losing streak and Maia has won his last 3, sometimes Joe Silva makes no sense

Is this official? I don't see how Koscheck can win this, his only chance is a puncher's chance but even then Kos has some terrible accuracy.

Sick fight, Maia should absolutely win this one though...against another grappler, and the way he tossed Fitch around I'd even give him the takedown edge against Kos.

Maia by decision probably, maybe a late sub.

As you can see, Koscheck isn't exactly slumming it so why would the UFC bother paying him all that money to fight lower ranked guys? If he wants the high salary that affords Ferrari's and private planes then he has to prove his worth by fighting the best the division has to offer.
