This has to be a little annoying for Maia. Kos gets a robbery of a decision against Mike Pierce (Tapology #20WW), loses a decision to Hendricks (Tapology #2WW), and gets 1TKO'd by Lawler (Tapology #12WW).

Basically Kos has shown that he can barely hang with #20, and can't hang with #2 & #12, so he gets a shot at #4?

Seems like all risk no reward for Maia.

I don't know how the UFC made this fight. It's a clear case of two fighters headed in opposite directions in their careers. Personally I would much rather see Maia facing someone like Rory McDonald or Carlos Condit and Koscheck going against Nate Marquardt

I think this is a better fight for Maia than people are letting on. Koscheck is still a big name in the sport and if Maia beats him, he's seen as an even bigger challenge to GSP.

While people do mention Koscheck getting a robbery decision over Pierce and losing to Robbie Lawler and Hendricks, they're really generalizing ****.

Here are the facts:
- There is a strong possibility that the Lawler KO was flukey considering who both fighters have defeated and lost to.
- Mike Pierce makes every fighter look bad and every top 10 guy he's fought he's managed to keep the fight ridiculously close (very close losses to Koscheck and Hendricks it could've gone either way and beating Jon Fitch in the first round of their fight at a time where Fitch was one of the most dominant fighters in MMA).
- That loss to Hendricks was just as shady as his win over Pierce.

Maia beating Koscheck would be great for him and if he does win, he should get the shot against GSP.

I would really be surprised is Koscheck beat Maia. I think Maia will get a rear naked late in the fight.

Wow, Joe Silva is getting worse and worse! This fight makes absolutely no sense, and what's worse is that it's an iffy match up for Maia (although I will pick him by sub). There are so many better matches to be made here! Give him Shields after Woodley destroys him, or Saffiedine or Condit or Marquardt or resign Carlos Rocha (wouldn't make sense but would be a really cool fight...unlike this), or Lawler, or any top 15 fighter coming off a win.

Maia's going to beat Kos and he's probably going to get cut afterwards.

It'll look strange watching Kos fight somewhere else besides the UFC.

I maybe alone in this thought, but I thought Maia vs. Fitch was a pretty entertaining.
