I have Aoki as number one, but when I think of grappling, so many things come to mind.  BJJ, transitions, wrestling.  As far as any JJ goes, imo, it's Aoki.  But grappling is anything ground related and I have no idea why I don't have GSP on my top 10.  It imcompasses effective wrestling, judo and all that imo.  Looking at my top 10, who would you guys think I should get rid of to place GSP on my list, or does GSP not deserve to be on the list?

Most meaningful grappler ever in MMA competition... or greatest grappler to ever live, regardless of what they did in MMA?   My list is sort of a weird combination of the two.

Good point.. and that is the only reason I did not include Rickson in my rankings... I assumed MMA competition here on Tapology and this thread.  How come Yahya doesn't get any love?

Still no Yahya love!  As far as MMA grappling, he is absolutely incredible.  One of the very few guys out there where if he gets you to the ground and/or gets a hold of you, the fight is over 9 times outta 10.

This is one of the rankings I haven't done. It's tough to break down who the actual greatest grappler is in MMA. Because there are a lot of guys who have extensive backgrounds in BJJ and Wrestling but can't really apply it and then there are guys with just a MMA background and are really good. Then there are the guys who can win on the ground if they ever get it there. Then there are guys who are really good on the ground but also amazing on the feet so we don't get to see their ground game as often.

53?  idk.. I really think he is one of the best grapplers in MMA.  He's a better grappler than Barnett and Askren!  Oh well, I stand alone :(

@SoccerKick No Aoki?  A lot of us really differ on this one.

@Beast Maybe in a few years you'll be on our list(s)!

Am i the only one who has jon fitch on list? The best grapplers nowadays seem to make the most boring fights and id say jon fitch is on his way to the best of all time.
