@CT  You misunderstand.  I just raised Nate up over both Jim and Donald.  I saw I had him below them and had to correct that.  And yeah, I'm gonna have to drop Gomi.  He's too high.  I concede that.  Even though he is on a 3-fight win streak.  He beat Sanchez but got robbed by the judges.

Ah, I agree with your moving of Nate and I also agree that Gomi clearly beat Diego. Gomi and Guillard would be an exciting fight.

@Bill - just curious why and how you could have Gray Maynard above TJ Grant and Anthony Pettis?

6-10 are very shaky for me, they could all be shuffled or dropped completely at any given time, but i think the Top 5 is pretty clear???

^ How do you have Jamie Varner in and not Nate Diaz, is the real question.

Cerrone, Miller, and Nurmagomedov are all honorable mentions...I hate MMA rankings, so up in the air.

@Bill,

You have maynard way too high up. how is he above Petis? How do you rank him over TJ Grant when Grant beat his ass? Also How do you have him over Josh Thomson when you have Gilbert a head of Maynard?

First off, are you really busting my balls for accidentally putting a P in his name once? Come on.

Also why on earth do you think I was even talking to you? Because I clearly was not.

I have explained my Maynard position a few posts back.  Along with most of my other rankings.

But I'll repeat myself.

The above questions are all legitimate and I appreciate them, too.  The answer is simple.  I am not ranking them based on their last fights.  I am giving career and the last 3 fights some weight.

Before their last fight, Joe Lauzon was ranked WAY ahead of Michael Johnson.  And even though Johnson beat him, I will not use that to rank Johnson ahead of him.  Johnson must prove to me that he is really on Joe's level.  And if he is, he should have no problem demonstrating that in his next 2 fights.

Same thing with Grant and Maynard.  Before their last fight, Maynard was significantly better.  But if Grant is for real, he will continue to demonstrate it in his next 2 fights.

But I don't think I've over-estimated Gray Maynard.  He's proven he's a top man so many times.  His fights with Florian, 3 with Edgar, Guida, Diaz more than prove his superior quality.  I've long believed that Maynard is one of the few with legitimate chances of de-throning Henderson.

One loss to Grant cannot take all that quality away.  Grant lost to Kim and Hendricks back when, but he hasn't lost since Christmas, 2010.  His wins are not against the most impressive names in the UFC roster, but his win against Maynard in the first was a good one.  I just want to see him in his next 2 fights.  And who he fights will be very important to his ranking.

Also like it to be known that Josh beat Melendez and Mel got very lucky to get the nod. That though it may have been a close fight Thomson clearly won and was robbed.

@Bill,

Your only answering Grant. Which I disagree with but I undertsand what you are arguing. however how does that arguement hold weight against putting Thomson and Petits below Maynard?

@Bill, sorry dude, I hate being this guy, but seriously? Basically what your saying is that even though Grant beat the **** out of Maynard and won, Maynard is a better fighter? So he's ranked higher because of that?

I disagree strongly with thast type of logic, no offense obviously, nothing personal, just putting my 2 cents in.

Nlow I would understand if you put Miller above Healy because of the No Contest, But When you beat the guy above you, you trade places...that's the way it is.

No Contast for weed is pretty weak. @Nojuice, though I agree with you. I kinda see where he coming from in some sense. For example Lauzon got beat badly by Johnson but I still think Lauzon is better when he on. I think Johnson had a great night and was the better fighter that night but not necessarily every night.

Whoops sorry guys, I forgot Thompson. I'll take Miller out of the top 10 tomorrow.

But, about the Diaz situation, I don't have him in the list because he's lost two straight, against Ben Henderson (which isn't bad) but if you lose in the fashion he did against Bendo, and you're the only guy that actually lost convincingly to him, let alone get absolutely DESTROYED since he's been the champ, that's bad.
Then his loss to Thompson blew him out of my top ten. Getting knocked out by a wrestler... On the feet... By a ******* head kick... That proves you're not worthy.

Him and Nick will never be champions.

Umm what? Thomson not a wrestler..............he elite level kick Boxer. He has great wrestling because he trains at aka, but he was there before Kos/fitch ect showed up, when it was just kick boxer as well. Josh is top 3 easy in the division striking. He was first guy to throw a friggin superman punch in the UFC. The guy is a beast standing.  Nate did not get "Knock out by a wrestler" he got knock out by one of the best strikers in the UFC light weight division.

Thomson was first a kick boxer. Then he got very good off his back and then became a good wrestler. He became a much better wrestler in recent years because of all the training he been doing with elite level wrestlers. But he was always first and foremost a kick boxer. Then he got good off his back because he kept getting taken down. Then he became a beastly wrestler when he started losing decisions because of take downs.

@Franklin, its principle, I don't give a **** if he blazes, I blaze every day lol. I'm saying that there is no way, shape or form, if you defeat somebody, that you shouldn't be ranked higher than them...unless...its a no contest...even then, I still have Healy ranked well above Miller because I don't think smoking weed has anything to do with his performance. Idk about you but when I smoke, I don't feel like doin ****, let alone train 4 months for a fight with a top 10 LW. Haha, if anything, he should have gotten an endurance award, that's impressive.

Im with Franklin @Hiuop...Thomsons a ******* beast kickboxer dude.

Upsets happen, when Serra beat GSP I don't think anyone truly believed Serra was a better fighter, just better that night. I can understand Bill's logic based on his example of the Lauzon and Michael Johnson fight, because I too when updating my rankings (if I haven't already) will not move Johnson above Lauzon, because I honestly don't think Michael Johnson is a better fighter than Lauzon I just think he had the fire and motivation of being a massive underdog and fighting for his job on that particular night, and Joe looked flat and slow the entire time. That's one of the worst beatings I can remember Lauzon taking in a fight, and he's fought some tough dudes. MMA rankings are weird all the things that can be factored in. I personally have Donald Cerrone a lot lower than most others do just because I find him to be very inconsistent.
