In LW, I suspect that the Top 12 all sincerely believe, deep in their hearts, that they can really beat him if they can only get in there with him. That creates a tension and volatile situation, where they all are giving it the extra mile to get their title shots.
Anyone agree?

Top Tier: Anthony Pettis, Benson Henderson, Gilbert Melendez, TJ Grant, Gray Maynard, Josh Thomson, Michael Chandler, Eddie Alvarez, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Pat Healy
Mid-Tier: Nate Diaz, Rafael Dos Anjos, Donald Cerrone, Diego Sanchez, Jim Miller, Joe Lauzon, Jamie Varner, Melvin Guillard, Michael Johnson,
Bottom Tier: Ross Pearson, Sam Stout, Curt Warburton, Kyle Watson, Matt Wiman, Andre Winner, Yves Edwards, Edson Barboza, Mark Bocek, Danny Castillo, Mac Danzig, Rafael Dos Anjos, Evan Dunham, Michael Johnson, Nik Lentz, John Makdessi, Anthony Njokuani, Aaron Riley, Shane Roller, George Sotiropoulos, Thiago Tavares, Paul Taylor, Gleison Tibau.
This division lost some good fighters when Frankie Edgar and Clay Guida moved down to FW. Seasoned vet Spence Fisher has all but stopped fighting, as has Sean Sherk. It would be significantly strengthened by the additions of BJ Penn, Jose Aldo, and Eddie Alvarez. Penn is a big question mark, as to whether or not he is retired or not.
My 11-19

I agree that LW is probably the most fluid division at the moment. It seems that on any given day, anyone can defeat anyone else. I am finding it almost impossible to keep up with this most dynamic, fluid of divisions. Things seem to change with almost every event. Older steady fighters are losing to rising new guys. Totally fluid situation.
Another name that could throw things into even further disarray is Russian-born Rustam Khabilov. He has the potential to cause chaos in an already messy rankings. His fight with Jorge Masvidal, November 6 promises mayhem and fireworks. Can't hardly wait.
And still more confusion is possible if Eddie Alvarez loses his fight in Bellator to Michael Chandler. If he loses, he will be free to sign with the UFC, without further resistance from Bellator. That gives me a funny feeling. Knowing Eddie's heart was to move to the UFC, is is possible he would fight with a little less tenacity than his usual? Not even knowing he's doing it?
But if Eddie Alvarez does come to the UFC, I don't think he would create the same thing as I used to think. I don't think he would be Top 10. I hope he would be I'm afraid to count on him. Too many disappointments from other people coming here and not living up to expectations.

And where do you rank Jury who thoroughly dominated Michael Johnson?

Here ya go:
Obviously I'm continuing with trend of advancing prospects with potential especially when they're undefeated. Jury's convincing win over Johnson followed by Johnson's complete handling of Lauzon probably doesn't justify a top 10 ranking but I'm pretty sure Ricci will be steamrolled and I want to start getting Jury's name in the conversation.
Diego might also be a stretch but considering who he's facing next and the fact that he's never been steamrolled make me think he'll be looked at more favorably after he competes very well with Gilbert. And if he wins it will make his entry into the top 10 smoother. I realize his fight with Gomi was close but I thought he actually won it and I've seen much greater "robberies". I think the Diego hate has lot to do with the outrage over that fight.
Obviously at this point rankings are very fluid and with Means having been cut, he'll probably lose his spot here but I don't who else to elevate yet and he might be back pretty quick.

It boils down to: Diego beat Nick and I don't see how Diego/Nate goes any different. With Gray/Nate III being made, I'd like to see Benson face the loser of Gil/Diego. Either fight would be great I think. Looking at my top 10 it seems obvious that Thomson should face the winner of Healy/Khabib.
While some are calling for RDA to get a top 10 opponent I think RDA/Masvidal is about right & I think Jorge takes it. When Jury wins this weekend the need for him to face a top 10ish opponent (Tibau, RDA, Masvidal?) will be clearer. Dunham/Cowboy is a great fight. Menace/Tibau could also work.
Lauzon and Varner vs. Gomi and Wiman in either comb. would both be entertaining and still rankings relevant. Despite Noons coming off a loss I still say make Noons/Barboza for sheer fun.

He doesn't want to fight Maynard. And he would deserve to be cut, but he won't. Dana White treats the Diaz brothers with velvet gloves. He never slaps them with the back of his hand. He did that once with Nick but then put him back on the card.
Nate is a marketable commodity and White barks loud but then whimpers out.
