Brown vs. Foster Wiki Update Wiki

The sixth bout of UFC 123 had Matt Brown face off against Brian Foster on the Spike TV televised portion of the undercard. Brown was 4-3 in UFC fights heading into the bout, but coming off of two-straight losses. Foster's UFC record was even at 2-2, with his most recent a victory two months earlier against Forrest Petz.

Brown came forward to begin round one throwing a low kick that landed and a high kick that missed. A well-timed superman punch into a takedown from Foster had him land in side control, but Brown quickly stood back to his feet. Brown landed a takedown of his own and began working from side control. Foster reversed, momentarily taking Brown's back until another scramble brought the fight back to standing. An overhand right from Foster landed and he scored another takedown. Brown came close with an armbar attempt but couldn't secure the finish at the end of a wild first round.

Foster was hit with back-to-back kicks that either hit or grazed the groin, but each time he quickly opted to resume fighting. Foster hit a slick trip takedown and moved into Brown's full guard. Three huge punches landed on Brown's head, and as Brown stood to escape the position Brian Foster locked up a quick guillotine choke.

The finish came at 2:11 of the second round for the winner, Brian Foster. Commenting to Joe Rogan in the post-fight interview, an emotional Foster stated, "Man I'm ecstatic, I wanted this so bad."
