Thats so bad for 2 title fights and the return on Chael Sonnen...I know I didn't buy this card and went to the bar, maybe most people were watching from their local bars instead of home for this one!

Only 250 000!?!?

I guess UFC 137 won't do very well either. Tough year for the PPV buys.

I wonder if the PPV costs will ever lower. I'm sure if the costs of the PPV were reasonable enough there would be more buys.

I doubt they would ever lower the cost at this point, it would be cool if they gave you a free event though after ordering 4 or something like that.

I agree with modifier; the prices are ridiculous, especially if you're an avid fan and want to watch all of them.  I was one of the 250,000 that bought that PPV.

Yeah, I hate spending 45 dollars sometimes 2 or 3 weeks in a row.  I don't like going to sports bars for the fights either.

@crumx, so what do you do then? I like going to sports bars. I like shouting and having a beer in my hand.

@soccer, well I didn't mean it like that.  One week separated UFC 135 and 136, there was also a free card in the middle.  Then there's 137, 138, UFC on FOX, and 139 all in a row.

Why are you suprised? It's simple math. The fanbase is stable, so are their incomes and the number of events increases = the number of ppv buys will drop. Imho they should still keep the high amount of events because of the FOX deal which will bring more exposure = more fans. Though dropping the prices a bit would make it a bit more tempting for the first time viewers. Then at the same time that is for profits only. When we think about fighter pay they need to either limit the number of fighters/fights (won't happen because that is their way of lowering competition) or keep the prices high so they can pay fighters a lot. In my opinion the prices will go down only if the advertisement revenue goes up. They should put much more pressure on advertising revenue. Even in crisis the amount spent on media advertising every year is HUGE. Though I'm a bit biased since I work in media.

I think the move to 9 o' clock has obviously turned out to be a horrible idea, not really sure why.

I liked it better at 9pm. There was time for a nightcap or a quick rendezvous after. When there is a ppv i am completely preocupied with it, and i can not be distracted by anything until it concludes.

Thiago I want your job. I cannot afford to watch something at 2am "because it's fun" because I won't be able to switch back for my work week. 2am on the weekend is the time I try to be at home/go to sleep.

@lbj6 I was thinking about going to this local bar to check one out but figured if I'm sitting in a bar I'm gonna be spending more money then throwing my buddy 10 bucks and going to his house even though its a 45 minute drive

Predictions: 7 of 11 Winners, 5 Perfect, 475 Points   |   Tied for 238th

You know, I hate to say this and it is no disrespect to lighter weight fighters (obviously Frankie proved his power), but the mass audience just doesn't like Bantams, Feathers or Lights like they do Light Heavy and Heavy.
I mean, the stats don't lie, there are MANY more KOs in the heavier divisions and whether we like it or not as MMA fans, that's what the generic audience member wants to see. As many people getting beat up as possible.
Though we may enjoy the technical game or the tactical striking of guys like Jose Aldo or Nam Phan, the mass audience will never enjoy those decision victories.
Sad but true.
