Thats so bad for 2 title fights and the return on Chael Sonnen...I know I didn't buy this card and went to the bar, maybe most people were watching from their local bars instead of home for this one!

@poir, i guess it kinda depends how much money you're plannin on spending at the bar. at mine, we pay 10 bucks to get in but they give us a 10 dollar voucher for food/drinks which i plan on getting anyway so it's like watching the fights for free. total i probly spend like 20 bucks, and it's a lot of fun

It may be true for casual fans but speaking for myself I love the lower weights because they have better stamina and throw way more punches it seems. I love KO's don't get me wrong but I like a good back and forth battle with a lot of striking that goes to a decision just as much

"“All of a sudden, he was shooting for a takedown, and I’m like, ‘Oh, you’re a wrestler now? Remember, I’m the black belt in jiu-jitsu. And you’re shooting on me now? This is a wrap." - Nate Diaz"

and unfortunately casual fans don't realize the technical brilliance that fighters such as aldo, florian, edgar, and maynard show in their fights

It's unfortunate that this show didn't draw higher numbers but there are many factors that prevented it from doing so. First Edgar and Aldo aren't exactly high drawing champions at this point. Edgar hasn't been marketed well and for some reason even the hardcore community views him as a very beatable champion. Also Aldo is just unknown and hasn't really made the waves in the UFC he was making in the WEC. His two title defenses in the UFC have been rather mediocre showings and nothing like the route to the title or his WEC defenses. Next though Sonnen was on this card he wasn't really doing his promotion shtick against Brian Stann. It's likely Sonnen wasn't getting a PPV cut this time as well as the fact he was fighting a military man who Sonnen had genuine respect for. Finally there was another PPV scheduled in the same month with GSP and BJ Penn on the card no less. That has fallen through with GSPs injury. Some people could only afford one, and giving the average fan a choice at the time between an Edgar PPV and a GSP PPV they were probably opting to wait for the GSP PPV.

UFC's simply putting on way too many PPVs and fans are now having to pick and choose which PPVs they can order and which ones they'll have to go out for or stream on the internet.  I'm actually relieved that I get to attend UFC 140 so that's one less PPV on my bill for that month..

Edit - Should mention I bought this PPV, just as I buy every PPV, and paying over $130 some months on a couple of events is way too much.  They need to start considering their prices or offer a subscription to the hardcore fans who want to order every PPV.

Not to sound rude but why on earth would anyone pay all that money to watch something that you can see for free? Unless you have money to burn your crazy spending that much a month, i can imagine after paying your cable bill you also go to the cd store and buy music right?

Where does the media get this information from, and how do we know it's accurate?

Just curious.

@trevpicks are you suggesting why pay for something you can easily steal? Why do we buy anything? Why would I buy a car if I could steal one for free? Why would I buy food if I could just as easily shop lift it? Why would I go to a movie or buy a DVD, I can steal those too. Because if nobody actually bought the product it wouldn't be there for people to steal. Unfortunately the people who buy the PPVs have to pay more because people steal it.

@trev because some people believe in being honest and not illegally ripping off the hard work of the hundreds of fighters and staff members of the UFC.

if everyone did what you did, the UFC wouldn't be able to stay in business... and then you wouldn't be able to watch it anymore.  therefore maybe you should be thanking all of us for covering the cost of your entertainment.

I pretty much always just have myself a little media blackout on Saturday, then download and watch the event on Sunday.  Don't all the live streams just get shut down anyway?

FYI redkayak, you might not have known this, but cars, food, and movies are sold by companies. not the government.  that's why they have names like "Ford" "Doritos" and "Warner Brothers" instead of "U.S. Postal Service."

@redkayak none of that is stealing from the government, it's stealing from private industry and absolutely no different from streaming or downloading an event. Streaming and downloading is easier to do and harder to get caught but don't kid yourself it's no different than shoplifting a $50 item from a store.

@Gregory I up voted your post and it gave an up and down vote at the same time.

You mean to tell me that Doritos aren't made by the U.S. Government?  This changes everything...

Stealing cars? jeez man not even gonna respond to that. The ufc bussiness model of ppv won't last forever, the majority of mma do not pay for ppv's a very small percentage do. However id imagine dana whites goal might be to eventually be like other pro sports such as the NFL who are much more profitably without ppv. I think the ufc would still be very profitable even if ppv ended today. I live my life honest but im no fool. Like i said if i had money to waste on ppv i would but im not gonna miss every event because i have other financial priorities.
