If he hadn't promised to stand and bang, he would've taken it. I give him an insane amount of respect for doing that.

Bloody Elbow has a intresting article that looks at if a case can be made for Rashad to be considered the #1 Light Heavyweight for the past five years.

Most notable part?

"Thiago Silva
5 Year Record: 4-2 1 NC (4-2 1 NC UFC)
3 Best Wins: Keith Jardine (KO), Houston Alexander (KO), Tomasz Drwal (TKO)
Losses: Lyoto Machida (KO), Rashad Evans (Dec)
Quick Notes: A positive drug test and no top level wins. I think we can ignore Silva in this discussion."

After UFC 139:

Dan Henderson moves up from #6 to #2
Shogun, Rashad, Rampage, and Machida all move down one spot due to Hendo moving up.

Hendo is without question number 2 now.

The onlt one on my list where i think there will be a dipute over is having Machida at 6. So let me elaborate on why.

I have him ranked because he lost two fights in a row and then the only win he has as of late is against Rnady Couture who lets face it in know way is a top contender.

So do I.  He has to be behind Jackson and Rua, who both have to be behind Jones.  Jackson has to be behind Evans, and Rua has to be behind Hendo.  It all adds up to Machida in 6th place.  I feel like all 6 of them can put up good fights against each other and potentially beat each other, but this is where they are today.

I love how everyone forgets about Rashad's last 3 fights and bumps him out of the top 2. I love Hendo but the only way he gets a title shot is if he beats the #1 contender (Evans) or waits until Rashad fights the winner of Jones/Machida.

@p4p no dissrespect to Evans but Hendo has won 4 in arow including winning the Strikeforce LHW strap.

I do agree that Rashad should get his title shot forst however, either that or him and Hendo should fight.

It'd be cool if they fought cuz I think it would be an awesome fight. However if they don't end up fighting there is no way they can't give the next title shot to Rashad. Like him or not and most people don't for whatever reason he has earned the right to fight for the belt more then anyone.
