Jabouin vs. Loveland Wiki Update Wiki

Yves Jabouin faced Ian Loveland in the first preliminary bout from UFC 134: Rio on Facebook, the first UFC bout in Brazil in 13 years.

Round one was a close round to call with Loveland controlling the early ground action, but a heavy strike and a follow up flying knee from Jabouin late in the round dazing Loveland and forcing him to clinch up and regroup.

Round two remained close, with up and down action and solid strikes landed by both sides. The Rio crowd was solidly behind Jabouin, cheering in unison with every landed punch. As the round grew late the strikes of Jabouin began paying dividends, and he ended the round solidly in control. Fight commentators Kenny Florian and Mike Goldberg called the bout one round apiece as they entered the third.

Round three had Jabouin in his comfort zone with the early striking and Loveland looking more wary. Loveland shrugged off a takedown attempt after 90 seconds, however. Jabouin stayed slightly more active as the remainder of the round played out on the feet. In the dying seconds Jabouin dove in for a final takedown attempt but was again unable to land it. A close fight that goes the distance.

The judges score it 30-27 Loveland, 29-28 Jabouin and 29-28 Jabouin by Split Decision.
