I have to admit, I'm firmly in the camp that the UFC has been watering down their product via over-saturation this year.

Well, I understand that they have a huge roster to support, but no clear distinction in quality has been apparent between many PPV main cards and FOX and FS1 main cards in 2014.

Hopefully this is a step back toward stacked PPV cards instead of a rare occurrence.

DJ is a great champion, and I have nothing but respect for him. Even still, there are a lot of fights that i consider more exciting on this card than the main event. Chris Cariaso hasn't done anything that demonstrates in my opinion that he has a real shot at beating Demetrious Johnson. It's not a weak main event because of the champion, but because of the challenger.

Gotta hand it to the UFC, though; it takes real skill to find an unworthy contender in a division so new that basically anyone with a win in the UFC is in the discussion.

The sad thing is I thought Horiguchi, who was originally set to fight Cariaso, was gonna beat Cariaso down. lol

@FaceStomper

Maybe Dominick Cruz and Cat Zingano will collide in the hallway at the arena and both re-injure their knees.

While I still have no love for the UFC, I'm going to prop this card as well. Despite the main event, this is one of the greatest fight cards I've ever seen. Maybe the greatest.

I will even make a prediction: When it's over, everyone will be saying "Why (oh why) wasn't Alvarez/Cerrone the 5-round main event here?"

because title fights will always be first, and rightfully so.  to put a title fight behind a a non title fight basically means you respect that champion less then a non champion.  cariaso may not deserve the main spot but DJ does, and saying that the fight doesnt deserve the spotlight is being disrespectful to DJ in my opinion. DJ has done more then Alvarez and Cerrone put togeather

Really excited for this card, the prelims are better than some of the recent FN main cards.

@wake but damn man... imagine if Jones vs Cormier was main eventing.

Heck, when's the last BIG title fight we've had?  Machida vs Weidman maybe, but there wasn't any bad blood or anything.   I think the last big fight was Weidman vs Silva 2 in December.

Ya man. Been the biggest main event drought since I've been following the sport for sure. And the PPV numbers reflect that.

With Jones/Cormier, I think this one would have topped 700k, with the possibility of approaching 1M.

Without it, I say it does between 275 and 350k. It's all about the headliners.

I'll be watching this at a bar. All the fights on the main card are good, except the main event. After Cerrone and Alvarez fight, I'll be heading out the door.

Krause vs Masvidal and Mizugaki vs Cruz are pretty dope too. This card is well worth the money even without Brock Lesnar.

Gustaffson, Jon Jones, & Khabib all were pulled from this card with the same injury - torn meniscus in training.  Odd to have all pull-outs on the PPV portion of a card leading up to an event be from the same injury

@Gregory

It's a lighter weight card so I kinda like it the way it is. Except that I'd replace the main event with Edgar vs Swanson.

Imagine that.

StealingFire.

The reason Cerrone vs Alvarez is a 3 rounder is because it's the Co-Main.

Even though Mighty Mouse should run thru Cariaso, it's still a 5 Round Title Fight, hence the Main Event.

Did I really have to explain that? Wow.
