@pierce, i honsetly think that Melvin would still be too fast for Gomin. might threaten with a few takedowns and KO him.

The sixth bout of UFC 132 and the featured fight of the Spike TV preliminary card broadcast saw Melvin "The Young Assassin" Guillard taking on Shane Roller in a lightweight contest. Guillard came into the fight 9-4 in his previous UFC competition, while Roller was 7-2 in his prior combined UFC and WEC action.

Guillard came out attacking quickly, backing Roller down and then landing a big kick to the body. Guillard missed on a push kick and then landed a low kick, looking confident if not over-confident. Roller ate a finger in the eye and needed a minute to recover. On the restart Roller connected with his best punch to that point, a warning to Guillard that he needed to be wary of the wrestler's power. Guillard landed a big left hook a moment later, Roller fell to his back but jumped up, only to eat a big knee from Guillard. Roller crashed to his back and ate a pair of hammerfists, going out cold from the vicious and precise attack from Melvin Guillard.

The official end came at 2:12 of the first round via spectacular knockout for Melvin Guillard. Speaking to Joe Rogan in the post-fight interview, Guillard commented, "I feel great, I've been training hard and it's a feeling of a lot of emotion right now... it's a great feeling to feel like this, I know I'm making my dad proud right now... I'm not going to sit here and ask for a title shot, I want to ask the UFC to allow me to fight in Houston, Texas in October... I just keep knocking 'em out, I don't know how close I am [to a title shot]... I'm just going to keep fighting great contenders."

I agree, I think Melvin is too quick for Gomi. But, that fight would be epic! Melvin needs a top 5 guy for sure.

Guillard needs a top contender. He's looking like he's taken it to another level.  He could be champion in a year's time... though Edgar could be a very tough fight.

I'd take Guillard over Edgar any day man. He finishes everyone and he's a d1 wrestler. Honestly, people are sleeping on this guy. I've been saying it since the Torres fight, Guillard is a killer, and he's coming for the title.

He beats every other lightweight. Maynard and Barboza could give him really serious trouble though. I'd take him as a lock over everyone else.

Gomi is a big and dangerous fight for anyone.  I think melvin would win but it would be an awesome fight with a great ending either or.

Not sure about Guida since they're both Greg Jackson's guys. Id like to see Melvin put Clay's lights out though.

melvin deserves better comp than gomi...i'd love to see guillard vs njokauni but aj isn't high enough either. i think melvin should be fighting for a title shot in his next fight. if a title match wasn't already booked between edgar/maynard guillard would deserve the title fight right now
