What? Yes they were. Every time Dana put that belt around Ben's waist it was a coin toss.

Despite what Edgar fans like to pretend. Edgar clearly lost that first fight. It was close but Bendo was clearly the winner. it was not "coin toss". Edgar got out landed and took harder shots.

@Bill,

Quality competition?

Josh just knokced out Nate, something Maynard never came remotely close to doing. in fact Nate subbed Maynard in there first fight. Maynard was utterly gifted a decision in there second fight after getting beat on standind and on the ground by Nate. Maynard also got knocked out by grant in his last fight and his most impressive win in 4 years has been against Guida who non top 10er at light weight.  Also you recently just had Mel ranked number 2...........and josh has fought him three times.

So I really don't understand your arguement because it does not support your rankings or stance.

No man. Frankie fist pumped his way to a 50-43 victory over Benson at UFC 144. Those judges weren't DTF. I came all the way from the Jersey Shore to see my boy Frankie. E throw down in Japan.

Nothing is better than decisiveness.

Bendo's recent fights were impressive because he was going toe-to-toe with some of the best in the world and having extremely close fights.  But he wasn't able to make any of them decisive, "I'm clearly superior to these other dudes" examples.  The storyline was more of "I'm a top 5 lightweight and I can hang for 5 rounds against Frankie or any of them."

The decisiveness of Pettis getting a dominant finish is exciting for the division.  We may be seeing someone who can finally stake claim to being the unquestionable #1 lightweight in the world.  The last person at 155 that I think of to do that was BJ.  But, let's see how Pettis does over the next couple defenses.

to be honest I don't really know who won the first fight between frank edgar and ben Henderson, but I know that Frank Edgar won the second, and that Benson lost to Gilbert Melendez. I guess you kids are just mad because Henderson lost fair and square and you didn't think his minimum risk style could be defeated. Sorry.

Well said Gregory. I think "unquestionable" is the key word here.

@Ben,

Ben clearly won there first fight.I really don't even understand how you cna argue other wise. Edgar got hit more and took the harder shots. The fact you can sit there and say Ben lost to Mel but you don't know who won between edgar vs benson the first time is utterly ridiculous to me. Seems like you dislike benson and are underrating his performances.

Fact of the matter is, Benson deserved to lose atleast 2 times during his UFC title run (Edgar II and Gilbert), but finally someone who REALLY wanted it came along. Soak it in Henderson. 0-2 against Showtime.

Pettis is surper marketable. He's a finisher and the showtime kick is one of th most marketable moves ever performed in the cage. As long as he can hold that title it will be great for the UFC. Not to mention if they can get Pettis vs Grant before the end of the year maybe on Fox that would be awsome.

I personally want them to do Josh vs Grant for the title shot. Think Josh vs Pettis could be epic fight.

Nobody knows who Grant is (in terms of casual fans) but he still probably deserves the next shot.

Although I'd like to see Aldo v Pettis...

Josh vs Pettis would be awesome but I think it's unfair to make Pettis sit out and wait for a challenger. Grant is already more than deserving and Josh could be put up against a half dozen other fighters for a #1 spot.

I don't even want to get started on these talks about champs from different weight classes again. If Aldo wants to move up and stay fine but he has his plate full at FW.

Whenever a champion loses, it creates excitement for the new possibilities.

Since Aldo is hurt, it sets up Pettis vs. Grant.

The leading LW candidates should have a good chaos in sorting out the ranking order.  Henderson, Grant, Maynard, Thomson, Melendez.  It should make for fun.  So many match-ups.  So many opportunities.

It is almost impossible to keep up with the LW rankings now.  Things change with almost every event.  Which I guess is the fun.
