Properly defending yourself is getting kneed in the body and then elbowed in the face until you have several cuts, bruises, and your eye is swelling? News to me.

Here's something else to think about. I'm pissed about Chael Sonnen getting stopped in this fight. Anybody that knows me on this site knows how much I hate Chael Sonnen.

I also think the stoppage was perhaps a bit too early. Jones had the leverage for finishing shots, but I thought Sonnen was defending himself well enough to not warrant a stoppage. It's a close call.

Joe Rogan just said......."if that had been a more forgiving referee, Jones would not have been able to answer the bell for the second round." Rogan also said it was a controversial stoppage.

Some terrible injuries... I was thinking that it would have been a NC if the injury would have stopped it but I guess that is only the case if it was due to a foul...

@ jay: ok i get it, you were rooting for jones and even picked him, so did i, but that is not the issue. i just asked you twice why you thought the stoppage was so early (so extremely early that this would cause such an outrage of yours) and you couldnt tell me. i disagree with that and if you rewatch the fight, you will notice that jones badly hurt sonnen with gnp, causing a huge cut on sonnens nose and continuing the strikes unanswered with sonnen not properly defending himself.

@ stange - Sonnen wasn't out. He wasn't finished. I've seen fighters that are finished, and Sonnen didn't look like a fighter that was finished. I don't know how else to explain it.

@ stange - everybody that I'm watching the fight with tonight are Jon Jones fans, as am I, and we're all scracthing our heads at why the fight was stopped. I know for a fact that Jones would've finished Sonnen tonight, but this fight was stopped prematurely. The people I'm watching the fight with tonight are MMA fans that go back as far as I do. Yes Jones was winning, but the fight could've made it to the 2nd round.
