In the co-main event of UFC 132, Chris "The Crippler" Leben took on "The Axe Murderer" Wanderlei Silva in a middleweight matchup. Leben entered the fight 11-6 in his prior UFC bouts, whereas Silva came in 2-3 in his UFC contests after a long and illustrious career spent mostly in the Pride Fighting Championships organization.
Leben came forward but was backed away after Silva landed a punch. The two came forward again and began unloading at each other. Silva landed and then Leben stunned him a left hook that cracked him on the side of head. Silva wobbled forward and Leben unloaded with a series of uppercuts that dropped Silva to his knees. Leben kept attacking until Silva went to his knees, face-planted on the ground with Leben ramming his fists into the side of his head, forcing referee Josh Rosenthal to dive in and save the veteran Silva.
Speaking to Joe Rogan in the post-fight interview "I can't believe it's real Joe, holy sh*t... I'm gonna tell you where I messed up, he hit me... it was a heavy shot right on my nose..."
