Strikeforce in its very last breath goes out with a bang. Strikeforce presents "A Farewell To Arms"

Since 2006 Strikeforce has been entertaining the public with Mixed Martial Arts and now after the signing with ZUFFA, as of January 12th, 2013, Strikeforce shall be no more.

The Current Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nate "The Great" Marquardt shall defend is title against contender Tarec "Sponge" Saffiedine in the last Title Match in Strikeforce history.

For being a Non-UFC card this event is very stacked with other big named fighters. Other than the current SF Champion and former UFC title challenger Marquardt the card also includes, Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Winner Daniel "DC" Cormier, PRIDE FC Grand Prix Finalist Josh "The Warmaster" Barnett, BJJ Elite Jacare Souza, Dream Middleweight Grand Prix and former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Gegard Mousasi, Former US Army Ranger Tim Kennedy, and much much more.

I mean, I see people complaining on twitter and on forums and just begging for SF to disappear and all happy it's shutting down, and I don't get it...

Granted, 2012 was not their best year, and probably they started dying since zuffa bought them, but, was it really SF fault? who made the calls? who took their fighters? who dismantled their roster? it all went downhill when Zuffa acquired them, not because of ****** management or anything of the sort.

Strikeforce was home to great fighters that the UFC would not  embrace; Fedor, Diaz, Hendo, Barnett, Marquardt, Overeem, Daley, etc, and SF created their own stars such as Rockhold, Carano, Rousey, Cormier, Melendez, Jacare, etc.

They brought WMMA to mainstream and helped the sport by creating the most awareness any MMA fighter in history has ever brought to the sport through Ronda Rousey, not even GSP or Anderson have had the amount of media coverage Rousey has had.

They gave us great moments, great fights and great fighters.

So, why the hate?

I get that it was about time to turn the lights off, after being used and abused and dismantled by zuffa, there wasn't much left to offer, hard to argue with that. But to be happy about it, to say 'good riddance'? what damage did strikeforce inflicted to anyone? to the sport? to the fighters? to the fans?

Maybe i'm a little emotional right now, or it might be the beers talking, but the response on the majority of the fans kinda threw me off a little. I followed SF for many years and went to live shows, met some pretty cool fighters and watched the fights and really got some great moments out of it, I guess I just don't understand why people would respond in such manner.

Anyways, rant over.

@JM  I will always support you, but you really know how to agitate a male locker room.  Maybe if you didn't poke these guys in the eyes . . . they might settle down.  They're not as bad as they pretend, just really possessive and territorial with respect to whose locker room this is.
