I hope he does! I have JDS picked in this fight and am a fan of his, but Mir has been one of my favorites pretty much since I started being a hardcore fan! I'm definitely pulling for him!!

I have to agree that Mir does not have the best chin but saying that his chin suck because he has lost 3 fights vs top 10 containder i don't agree. The fact he is facing one of the best power Ko opponent will be hard for him. Even a Elephant head could be knocked out by the hammer of JDS !

I prefer Mir to win, I´ve always liked him as a fighter, I like JDS allright but I´m a bigger fan of Mir, however, with his chin, Mir doesn´t stand much of a chance, unless JDS tripps and Mir jumps to get a sub, I don´t see anyother possible way for Mir to win, ha has a good punch an has imporved his boxing but not even close enough to beat JDS. so there goes Mir back to the drawing board

@Crazy, dude I have nothing against Mir, I´m a fan of him, but all of his 5 lost have come by KO, even Brandon Vera KO´d him, so he definitly doesn´t have the best chin and against JDS that´s a big problem

Can we just ignore 2006 in Mir's career please? Bringing those fights up to make a point is ridiculous he wasn't close to ready to coming back yet and we all saw the results!

Sick promo Anik.  I'm digging the old school motif...and the ring girls.

I don't believe Mir has a glass jaw, but I don't believe he has a good chin either.  He's never been one hit ko'ed...as best I can remember.  Carwin and Brock pounded his face until he eventually went out.
That said, I like both guys, but Cigano is going to put him to sleep either round 1 or 2.  I just don't believe that Frank is going to be able to get JDS to the ground.

well, not beeing at your 100% doesn´t afect your capacity to take a punch, but allright let´s forget those, he still has other3 of  3 losses  by KO/TKO, and was about to get a 4th  by Nogueria who with over 33 wins has only 3 by KO, I´m not doubting Mir skills, just his chin, I´m not saying it´s the weakest, I´m just sayin it won´t help him agains a guy like JDS

If Mir is standing with JDS he's going to sleep its that easy, but the last 2 times Mir was KO'd it was to a wrestler on the ground with GnP...Carwin had him against the cage and dropped him, but it was the punches when Mir was on the ground that put him away

JDS will probably KO Mir even faster than he did Cain.

I hate to say a high level fighter has no chance in a fight, but in this case.....Mir basically has no chance.

Mir's only real shot is if JDS jumps into his guard Fedor style after dropping him with punches.  Then maybe he can get the sub, but JDS definitely knows that's Mir's only real shot.  He won't let that happen.

@soccerkick, yes it´s true, and believe me I´d rather watch Mir win, if the fight goes to the ground he´ll be all over JDS and if Noguiera couldn´t survive Mir in the ground JDS doesn´t stand a chance, but sadly I don´t see that happening.

@analias I gotta disagree I mean JDS have a big advantage on the feet and has another big advantage because every fight starts on the feet but if Frank Mir can get this fight to the mat regardless of if he is on top or on bottom he will win this fight.
Not only does Frank Mir have some of if not the best BJJ in the HW division he also is one of the most intelligent fighters in MMA so I think he has a better chance then most people are giving him.

@Alias, I agree completely. I hate to say Mir has no shot but he has awful takedowns, bad chin, and JDS has good defense and great hands. Mir's only hope is to pull guard.

I like both JDS and Mir but I wouldn't be surprised if Mir pulls this off, I do reckon he is the underdog and I do give the edge to JDS, but it is definitely not as uneven as people seem to think it is.

Similar scenario for Cain-Bigfoot; people seem to be underestimating Pezao, although Cain is the much better fighter, Bigfoot is still a huge man with brute strenght. Remember the Fedor fight? once he took him to the ground, Fedor wasn't able to take him off of him, and we are talking about a strong, Sambo specialist with vast experience.
Also consider this, Jon Jones isn't the most skilled striker, but his reach and build make up for those technical shortcomings, on the same note I think his size and weight advantages are what makes Pezao a huge threat to anyone in the division.
That said, I think Cain will play a conservative game, keeping his distance, moving a lot, mixing it up with combos, leg kicks and occasional takedowns to get the UD.

I'm on the fence with Nelson-Sasquatch, I do think Nelson is the better fighter, but he seems to be completely off in his last fights, he is currently 3-3 in the UFC and 2-3 in his last 5. I don't even remember the last time I actually saw him attempt a sub. Maybe at his 35 it's time we accept he's not the force we thought he could be.

Time to change the Nelson-Gonzaga poster no? >
just sayin.
