Johnson vs. Cormier Wiki Update Wiki

Daniel Cormier enters this bout as a replacement for Jon Jones who was stripped of his light heavyweight title for his driving arrest. Daniel will have just over three weeks to make weight and prepare for Rumble Johnson who has been on a nine-fight winning streak essentially since moving from 170 lb. up to 205. As with many of his opponents Cormier will be at a height and reach disadvantage.

Rumble Johnson has had most of his impressive finishes in early rounds often with his heavy hands and killer instinct. Finishing DC early may prove to be tough task as Daniel has proven to be a very durable opponent, with his only professional MMA loss coming to Jon Jones in a five-round war that went to the judges. Cormier has recently gone all five rounds whereas Anthony Johnson has never gotten into the championship rounds so we don't really know his level of cardio. It seems to me, Daniel would love to grind out the first several rounds and bring Anthony into deep, untested water.

It's unclear whether Rumble will be able to keep it standing or if Daniel will be able to get it to the ground. DC might consider grappling for the first few rounds to keep Rumble from throwing the explosive power he has been recently demonstrating in the first.
