My MMA Rankings
Top Heavyweight MMA Fighters
Man, this SFGP is already shaking this division up a lot. I think the winner should be two or maybe three, behind Cain. We'll see.
-
1
- Junior dos Santos
- "Cigano"
- 21-10-0
-
Junior is going to be on top for a while.
-
2
- Cain Velasquez
- 14-3-0
-
Cain may not have been 100 percent against JDS, but I still think he loses a rematch. He stays at number 2 though.
-
3
- Alistair Overeem
- "The Demolition Man"
- 47-19-0, 1 NC
-
I'm excited to see how he deals with Lesnar.
-
4
- Brock Lesnar
- 5-3-0, 1 NC
-
One win away from a shot at the belt.
-
5
- Shane Carwin
- "The Engineer"
- 12-2-0
-
Carwin didn't look good in losing to Dos Santos, but he's still a great fighter nonetheless.
-
6
- Fabrício Werdum
- "Vai Cavalo"
- 24-9-1, 1 NC
-
7
- Josh Barnett
- "The Warmaster"
- 35-8-0
-
Barnett has a somewhat easy path to the finals of the Strikeforce GP
-
8
- Frank Mir
- 19-13-0
-
Mir dominated Nelson.
-
9
- Daniel Cormier
- "DC"
- 22-3-0, 1 NC
-
Looked tremendous against Bigfoot.
-
10
- Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira
- "Minotauro"
- 34-10-1, 1 NC
-
Shocked the world in beating Schuab.
-
11
- Cheick Kongo
- "The Darkness" | 31-12-2, 1 NC
-
Coming off two good wins.
-
12
- Antônio Silva
- "BigFoot" | 19-15-0, 1 NC
-
Needs to improve drastically to remain at the top level. Cormier showed some big holes in his game.
-
13
- Roy Nelson
- "Big Country" | 23-19-0
-
Looked improved against Cro Cop.
-
14
- Travis Browne
- "Hapa" | 18-7-1
-
Great performance against Struve, not so great against Broughton despite the win.
-
15
- Stefan Struve
- "The Skyscraper" | 29-13-0
-
If he could learn to use his reach (a la Semmy Schilt) he could be a serious contender.
-
16
- Matt Mitrione
- 13-9-0, 1 NC
-
We saw some holes in his game against Kongo. He is still young though and could improve.
-
17
- Brendan Schaub
- "Big Brown" | 10-5-0
-
Has a chance for redemption against Werdum.
-
18
- Pat Barry
- "HD" | 8-7-0
-
19
- Mike Russow
- 15-3-0, 1 NC
-
Russow had a great come from behind finish of Duffee, but it was not a very impressive performance, he caught Duffee after getting beat up for the majority of the fight. He has a big test in front of him in Jon Madsen, whom he should be able to outwrestle, and defeat.
-
20
- Fedor Emelianenko
- "The Last Emperor" | 40-7-0, 1 NC
-
Wow. It's crazy that Fedor has dropped off of the top 10
-
21
- Todd Duffee
- 9-4-0, 1 NC
-
Duffee is a beast, regardless of what people say. He ko'd Hague in 7 seconds. He dominated Russow for 2.5 rounds. He only had a week to prepare for one of the best Heavyweights in the world, no one could win that fight. I believe Duffee will put together an impressive string of wins very soon.
-
22
- Cole Konrad
- "The Polar Bear" | 9-0-0
-
Konrad has the skills to be great. He has excellent wrestling and, of course, size. He needs to fix his cardio problems before seeing higher competition.
-
23
- Christian Morecraft
- 8-3-0
-
Morecraft is certainly on the weaker end of the division, but he has some very serious ground and pound when he's on top, he just needs to find a way to get there.
-
24
- Jon Madsen
- 8-2-0
-
25
- Dave Herman
- "Pee-Wee" | 22-6-0
