They are really giving Davis a HUGE step up in compitition and i don't really think he is ready for it.

Rashad via TKO

Rashad should take this decisively.

Phil Davis may be one of the best defensive wrestlers in MMA so I like his chances to keep this fight on the feet. Unfortunately I think he'll lose on the feet. He may have, however, made huge improvements to his game since the Nogueira fight, as many prospects do. I could see him pulling off the upset, he's the better wrestler, but at this point I don't think he's the better mixed martial artist.

Davis should be the better wrestler but Rashad's striking, hand speed, and power could be the deciding factor in this fight.

I would've preferred Bader/Davis and Rashad/Rampage II in Japan.

I was never intrigued by Rashad/Davis, I would prefer Hendo/Rashad for an official title eliminator.  But it seems as if Hendo will be out of action for a while.  Regardless, I don't see Davis beating Rashad.

You don't need Rashad vs Rampage II considering Rashad won their first fight convincingly and it was a rather blah fight. Rashad vs Davis makes the most sense because the winner can be moved directly into title contention regardless of who wins. If Bader beat Davis and Rampage beats Rashad you've just knocked two contenders off the Jones title picture. Jones has already beat Bader and Rampage easily. Jones needs fresh opponents, the winner of Rashad vs Davis will be 1 and Dan Henderson should be right there as the other possible contender.

Rashad/Rampage II would be a different story in my opinion.  Rampage's TDD was excellent in the fight with Jones, I agree that Rampage/Rashad II isn't the most intriguing fight though. But Bader/Rampage isn't either, Rashad needs a tough fight after basically backing out of the Jones fight (according to Jones).  Rashad's last two victories were over Ortiz (Who isn't even a top 10) and Rampage, who was a top 5 competitor at the time, but that was over a year ago.  A victory over Davis doesn't do much for Rashad IMO, unless it was a finish.

It doesn't matter if the fight plays out different. Rampage actually beating Rashad would be a nightmare for the UFC because you can't put Rampage in a rematch with Jones. On the other hand whoever wins between Davis (top 10) and Rashad (Top 5) can immediately contend against Jones. Rashad vs Rampage 2 for me would not only be pointless and do nothing for Rashad considering he beat Rampage fairly recently and Rampage is 2-1 since the fight (2 decisions one being controversial), it would possibly risk a huge LHW title fight without leaving another option for a title contender. Bader would be a solid win for Rampage (Showing he still can compete) and Rampage would be a huge win for Bader (getting him back in the top 10). Davis is a very tough Fight he is top 10 ranked has 100% TD defense so far and 81% striking defense, again so far.  I think this is one of the most intriguing matches we could see at LHW outside of Rashad vs Jones.

Davis hasn't fought top competition.  Those stats are impressive, but his notable win was over Little Nog.  Gustafsson and Stann were solid wins, but Stann is now a top tier Middleweight, and Gustafsson has been rolling through his opponents.  Rampage/Rashad II would be as meaningless as Ortiz/Rashad II then. I get that Rashad needed an opponent on short notice, but a victory over Tito did nothing for him, and a loss to Tito would've been worse for the division than a loss to Rampage now.  I honestly do not see Davis posing much of a problem to Rashad, considering the long layoff and his knee injury.  I'm perfectly fine with Bader/Rampage, but it seems like it's such a mismatch.

Are you kidding me imagine if Ortiz beat Rashad that would be a dream for the UFC. Ortiz who is massively popular takes out Bader and Rashad, it's like a former Champions final run at glory. That has dramatic story line written all over it and could have been marketed into a huge PPV fight. Of course there was about a 10% chance Tito would actually beat Rashad and that Fight only happened because Davis got injured. Rashad vs Tito was suppose to Rashad vs Davis anyway so this fight is months in the making.

I've got to agree with minotauro's analysis of this fight.

"Phil Davis may be one of the best defensive wrestlers in MMA so I like his chances to keep this fight on the feet. Unfortunately I think he'll lose on the feet. I think Rashad takes this one by UD.

when has Davis proved he's one of the best defensive wrestlers in mma? He hasn't faced a high level wrestler in mma yet. I'l be taking Rashad by a late tko or UD.

I would take Rashad Evans, you cant go from Lil Nog to Rashad Evans.... Thats a pretty massive jump.
