Personally don't think Ali has done enough for a title shot, I guess there aren't enough contenders at this moment. I would rather see this as the main event of a UFC Fight Night, rather than a ppv.

Hes russian which automatically makes him a beast, plus two solid wins over elliot and lineker, who I think highly of, so I think its a good fight.

@Godhood Who would you prefer to see fight for the title? Also, why do you not want a title fight headlining a PPV?

Well like I said even though there's not really enough contenders at the moment I would like to see Dodson (as long as he wins his next fight) rematch for the title, I'm liking his chances. It's not a matter of not wanting to see a title fight headlining a PPV but more of seeing someone like Ali headling a PPV against Johnson. Those kind of fights I'd expect for a UFC fight night, still exciting to watch though.

I like this fight. Dodson and Moraga are tied up. Benavidez just got KTFO by MM, McCall's last win was Illiarde Santos. It's either Bagautinov or Formiga and you gotta take the Russian over Formiga.

Remember, a lot of people were saying Lineker should get the next shot if he beat Bagautinov and since Baguatinov won, he deserves it.

With that being said I hope Louis Smolka makes a good impact in the division.

This is the first title fight Vancouver has ever had, so I hope they don't complain too much. 131 in particular was brutal in terms of injuries/cancellations.

I think it's a solid fight. Johnson has been beating every challenger as a flyweight, and Bagautinov is clearly the #1 contender. His debut over Vinicius was impressive, but didn't o much for him obviously. But two wins over Elliot and Lineker definitely solidify him as #1 contender.

DJ's already been on the sideline too long if you ask me. He seemed ready to go immediately following his KO win over Benavidez. The 6 month wait is long enough if you ask me.
Moraga and Dodson are both one fight removed from losing to Johnson (Moraga got utterly dominated and Dodson couldn't keep up the pace the last 3 rounds after winning the first 2) and are supposed to fight on June 7.

Formiga is one fight removed from losing to Benavidez (badly). In addition, his win should have an asterisk next to it considering he locked in the choke based off an accidental headbutt.

Chris Cariaso has 2 wins in a row (Santos and Martinez), Makovsky has 2 wins in the UFC (Jorgensen and Sampo), and Bagautinov has 3 wins in the UFC (Vinicius, Elliot, and Lineker). It basically had to be one of these 3 and Bagautinov had the most wins and had won over the most impressive competition.

All things considered, Mighty Mouse/Bagautinov is much more deserving of headlining a PPV over some of the other headliners in recent years (Silva/Franklin II, Jones/Belfort, Silva/Bonnar, Jones/Sonnen, and Evans/Henderson).

This is a badass match-up. Glad Ali got the title shot, he brings a lot to the table especially in the power department. Not many others at 125, he seems like the right choice.

A match up made out of pure lack of depth at 125. John Dodson and Joseph Benavidez are both clearly better fighters than Ali, but how many times can you make Mighty Mouse fight the same two guys? Should be a decent fight, but Ali's not ready for the mouse. His biggest wins are decisions against Lineker and Tim Elliott. He needed another win IMO. His only chance in this fight is to land a big shot, and even at that I don't see him getting it done. Dodson had Mighty Mouse hurt badly twice and he still managed to recover and grind out a decision. Mighty Mouse isn't losing his belt for a long long time, and if he does it'll be to Dodson.

I'm kind of pissed the way other people online are treating UFC 174 just because Demetrious Johnson is headlining it.  Besides, no card can get worse than UFC 161.

I love this fight Ali and Dodson both have something for DJ, Scoggins may down the road possibly.

I think it's about time the flyweights headline a PPV. They always put on great fights. Overdue.

Johnson is arguably the best fighter in the world right now.

I don't get what more people want. Demetrious Johnson might not have the name-value of a Jon Jones or Cain Velasquez, but he is easily one of the best fighters on planet earth and very arguably the best current champion in the UFC. The guy does everything and it's very exciting to watch.

Not to mention the fact you have him going up against Ali Bagautinov. Another well rounded guy, only this time, he is Russian. I'm sure Vancouver fans would rather this over another Dos Santos/Carwin fight headlining their PPV..

In Johnson's last 3 fights he has won KOTN, SOTN, and FOTN.. all in title defense and all in the same year. Now, it might just be me, but that sounds like a guy who deserves the main event slot on a PPV.

The biggest complaints I've heard when it comes to flyweights are lack of KO power. Which isn't true for either of these guys, so hopefully there's not much to ***** about. At least not from anyone other than fans like Godhood (dip****s).
