Well put @Stickman I'm still sad but at the same time Anderson is 38 years old and I knew this day would come. Weidman will be a good champ he has the potential to hold on to that belt for a long time.

The only thing I'm really hoping for is that Andy will fight again, the best ever shouldn't go out like this. A rematch would be cool but it's not a must and if Andy doesn't want to I could understand as well.

War Anderson what ever he'll do I'm a fan for life...

While it is true that the specific reason Silva lost was that he was clowning, I disagree to some extent with the house.  I think Weidman would have beaten him regardless.

Weidman was following the Sonnen blueprint and it worked.  He took Silva down in the first and dominated him.  He made a mistake in going for the heel hook, and Silva was able to scramble back to his feet.

But I think that even if Silva had not mugged and clowned, he would have been beaten by Weidman.  I think Weidman would have continued to take him down and dominate him on the ground and ground out a UD victory.

I further think the clowning was an indication that Silva was embarrassed by his first round domination and was acting out of anger and frustration.  His pretending to be hurt reminded me of The Matrix.  Just before he got caught, his eyes were actually closed!  The actual finish was disappointing and ridiculous.  I hope it causes Anderson to retire the clowning / mugging act.

Last night set the record.  Never before had I ever seen clowning taken to such extremes.  Not by Ali, Macho Camacho, Sugar Ray Leonard or anyone else.

I further don't believe him when he says he's done fighting for the belt.  That was frustration talking.  And I agree with Dana White that the rematch will be huge, and Silva will NOT do that showboating and hot-dogging in the rematch.  Dana got it right that Silva DOES indeed want his redemption and will fight seriously the second time around.

But Weidman would have won last night anyway.  The Sonnen blueprint is the right way to fight Anderson, so Anderson must work on his take-down defense, and wrestling.  This will not affect his legacy in any way.

If Weidman continues to follow the Sonnen blueprint, he should win the rematch, too.  He's for real.  But he made a massive mistake in judgment when he chose to stand and exchange with Anderson.  That was a risk he needed to avoid.  If he continues to stand and exchange in the rematch, he will lose and lose huge.

I agree @Bill. Andy was acting so outlandishly because he was embarrassed about the fact that he just got outworked in the 1st rd, and tried to compensate with his "I was only playing around" act.

I don't know... Silva displayed some really good jiu-jitsu in round 1, and Weidman couldn't take him down in round 2...

I'm really happy for Weidman, this guy is incredibly respectful and extremely confident in his abilities. I didn't think he'd win, but you never count a guy out. Silva completely ignored Weidman's skill and ability, he gave him no respect in that cage and he got taught a nasty lesson. I am happy he got put out for that, it needed to happen. You just can't show that level of disrespect to someone in the cage, if you wanna fight with your hands low that is fine, but don't completely disregard a fighter's skill and power, that is just incredibly stupid.

I'm not sure how the fight was going to go, but it seemed to me like Silva would stuff the takedowns and he was gonna continue on mocking and "clowning" Weidman on route to another Maia, Leites like victory. I'm really glad this didn't happen. With that said, I think when Anderson has had some time to think about it we will get the rematch and I think he can win it obviously, but we'll see.

Looks like Anderson just beat Forrest Griffin for most embarrassing knockout loss in the UFC.

I wouldn't say I'm happy for Weidman, but while I should be hating him for KO one of my favorites, I can't say that either. I think I'm more angry at Silva and I can't really say anything bad about Weidman.

Anyways, kudos to the new champ, looking forward to a new era in the UFC Middleweight division.

I don;t think this is the most embarrassing KO I think is the most stupid, Forrest was trying his best and got KO'd effortlessly with a jab, Silva was playing around and got caught, that's just stupid

I agree that was incredibly hard to watch Forrest give it his all and just get put down by a jab, but think of the fan base in Brazil watching Silva with his hands down completely dismissing Weidman, only for him to get clipped and knocked out. Superfight gone, 7 year reign ended, 16 fight win streak in the UFC ended, brazil implodes.

I think it is stupid and embarrassing.

"In half of my visions, Silva kisses a spinning backfist and dies. In the other half, Silva kisses a spinning heel and dies. (Spinning heel kicks is the trend these days.) I'm not sure which one is right. But then again, all of my visions have never been wrong. So I think Weidman performs a double spin attack with a spinning backfist on the first spin and a spinning heel kick on the second spin. Or maybe Weidman lands a spinning backfist and heel kick at the same time. Either way Silva will see it coming, but he just goes forward with his chin up and hands down because he doesn't expect it to cause any damage. But BOOM (or BOOM BOOM), Silva ends up getting destroyed by some spinning **** Chris Weidman pulled out of his ass. Later in a post-fight interview, Chris Weidman will call this move "The Hurricane Sandy".

Weidman did have a good takedown in the 1st, but Anderson stuffed like 2-3 takedowns after that and had Weidman right where he wanted him. You guys saying Weidman would have won anyway are being hopeful, cause the momentum was all with Anderson...he just ****** around and taunted one too many times.

Like I said, great win for Weidman...holy ****. If there is a rematch though and Anderson isn't on his 150% taunting/goading ****...Anderson will put him away.

And in the grand scheme of things, i'm a much bigger fan personally of Chris...so no Anderson nut-hugging ****.

maybe not nut-hugging Swick but you have no more proof that Anderson was going to win or will win in a rematch than those saying Weidman would've won anyway or will. You're just going off of his past. The first time he did it, he was doing it against completely outclassed opposition: Leites, Maia, and Cote but it was still wrong to do and everyone knew it but because he kept winning the false belief that he was so good he could do it anyway grew until he met a fighter who was close enough in skill to make him pay for it.

Is Anderson still the better striker? Yes. Is he the better MMA fighter? The evidence says no.

I'm with Swick on this one ... Weidman looked to be at Anderson's mercy before Anderson decided to go too far with his Matrix routine ...

I could be wrong, but during the fight I could really see how Weidman felt a bit out of his league as soon as Anderson got back up in the first round. Plus, his takedown wasn't really a takedown, he went for it, Anderson sprawled and then for some reason decided to go over him and landed on the bottom, and then he went on to defend the rest of his TD attempts.

Anyway, I may just be splitting hairs here and Weidman is definitely the legitimate champ until proven otherwise, but I'm not completely sold on him yet (people here have already been saying he beats Jon Jones or at least has more of a chance than Velasquez to beat him, which is a bit too "bandwagonnish" in my eyes).

And if you want to talk "evidence", the only evidence we have is Anderson playing and getting clipped, so there's no evidence Weidman's better than Silva just yet ... Weidman's going to have to defend that belt a few times before we can start crowning a new GOAT.

And everyone is acting like Anderson taunted and got ******* hit with a Hendo bomb (which he sustained before)...that punch was ******* half-powered and glancing, the only reason Anderson went down is because he was leaning back at a ******* 90 degree angle with his chin sideways...it was a 1 in a million KO punch.

And talking about Anderson nut-huggers...I've never seen so many banwagoners in the last month and especially after the fight on Weidman's side.

That's the only reason I'm making these points, too many people growing balls to talk and speak down the King after his downfall...but I guess that's what peasants do.

No bandwagoner here, Weidman is the younger, better, more complete fighter and he won the first round and put the man to sleep in the second. The bubble bath I had last night with the tears of Andy's fans who said he threw the fight or wanted to lose was lovely.

More unnecessary comments on the fight:

-Ignoring the last 10 seconds, Weidman probably did the best standing against Anderson
- It seems to me the only take down Weidman went for was the one he got, everything else was too far out and half hearted (Silva can be responsible for the distancing and not leaving openeings but reminds me of everyone saying Cain couldn't ake down JDS based on the half hearted TD attempt in the first fight)
- I don't thing Silva could have fought better but he could have fought smarter
- It's easier to defend take downs and get underhooks when your hands are at your waist,Whittaker fought Philly shell style with the left hand at the waist to defend the takedowns of Colton Smith and it worked, if you're Anderson you KNOW the only way you lose is on the ground. We will never know but could have been part of the plan that he went to far with.
