In one of the biggest free fight cards ever aired on Spike TV, UFC 105, featuring UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture’s return to light heavyweight, was held in raucous Manchester, England. In the main event, Couture battled Vera in a disappointing clinch battle to emerge with a controversial Unanimous Decision win. In other action, British stars Dan Hardy and Michael Bisping emerged victorious from their battles with respected veterans Mike Swick and Denis Kang, respectively.

For his victory, Hardy was awarded a title shot against Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre, which would take place in March of 2010.
