Went back and looked at all the odds of the biggest upsets in UFC history to see where Nunes vs Pena ranked:

-1400 Rousey vs. +830 Holm

-1300 St. Pierre vs. +850 Serra

-1125 Nunes vs. +700 Peña

-1000 Barão vs. +650 Dillashaw

-900 Penn vs. +588 Edgar

Rousey vs Holm is still the biggest upset in the betting world for UFC fights.

I think this was more monumental tho. Rousey was more influential so I guess it’s a matter of opinion

@njrp77 I said the fight would have looked a lot different. I didn't say Poirier would have won You mutant.

In case you weren't paying attention, I picked Charles by third round Sub RNC.

I mean, Dustin rolled out of a submission attempt he wasn’t supposed to have to defend, and then got ground and pounded for four straight minutes. It was about as stark of a momentum swing as possible.

I don’t really think it was as impactful as everyone thinks. Maybe Charles is just good? The glove hold was like 3 seconds

I need to check out these forums more often. You guys are hilarious.

For me personally, I think Poirer is the better all around fighter (bjj aside) but he was very scared of Charles' bjj game and that's why I picked him to win. I saw it in the ufc embedded clips and it was confirmed when Dustin was content to stay on the ground for an entire round and not even attempt to get up. Even the third rd when Charles took his back, that was due to him trying to to give his back, he kind of panicked and just left his hands on the mat thinking this would stop everything.
I dont understand why people are bringing up this glove hold so much. Poirer him self didn't notice anything and everyone is just bringing it up because Rogen mentioned it. If he didn't you wouldn't even have noticed a thing. Secondly I don't think it was as bad as it was described by Joe. I think his fingers might have just got caught slightly. Trust me, you know when someone's grabbing your gloves and Poirer would have said something, nice guy or not.

Glove hold or not, the better fighter won. That **** happens every day. Bronx beat DP. I picked DP but that’s no excuse for the strategy and execution. I think DP can win that fight in a different night but the right guy won last night. Blaming that is just being butthurt.

JG/Bronx is a whole different animal. Like last night, I like both guys a lot too. Just saying if JG gets him hurt, he’ll empty more of the tank and throw heaters to kill. He does it more calculated than we can realize as spectators also. He’s also a much much better wrestler and keeps the center of the octagon more, not letting himself get caught along the cage as easily, where Bronx likes to trap guys. He’s is great as using his limbs to get unconventional takedowns with body locks, clinches, creating scrambles or going for standing sub attempts. If dude gets a lock he can climb and backpack. It’s pretty damn impressive. Can’t wait for that fight.

I posted the clip a page or so back. Oliveira grabs the glove, then advances his hold, Poirier escapes so Oliveira grabs the glove again, which is why Dustin rolled and ended up on bottom. It’s like when a fence grab saves a guy from getting taken down. It’s completely sequence altering. And that single sequence changed the momentum, and it didn’t change back.

You can not care, but to say it didn’t impact things deserves one of Fish’s memes.

@njrp77 how would I know you smelly stained-bib mongoloid? I'm a not a ******* Tralfamadorian. Maybe Poirier is able to shrimp and bridge back up to the feet, and it stays there for the majority of the round, and he doesn't get 10-8'ed and maybe takes the round. Maybe that doesn't happen and something else does. Who knows. It's a question as pointless as my own hypothesising that had he not glove-dug the outcome would have been different. Not only should it be self-evident that it's totally unanswerable, but the only reason you're asking me is because you're sure that no other outcome would have been possible. It's Literally infinite loop ******ation. I'm saying that if we was able to break the lock it's likely the second round looks different, and if that's the case, it's possible the third does too. Why does this put sand on your Tampon?

Why do you even give a **** anyway? Why would you infer from my statement that I'm somehow saying Charles didn't earn the win? I never said anything of the like. He worked his ass off for that choke. You didn't even pick Charles by Sub. You had him by first round TKO. Really? Against Poirier? Were you calling upon that mystical power of divination when you assumed that there was literally no other timeline which could have occurred if Dustin had been able to scramble up?

Jesus Christ.Take your 8/14 and go back to flinging poo at the moon you ridiculous ****-fingered simian half-ape.

@baldric eggling the glove grab would'nt of. changed the round much he would of still got his posision and he did get a 10-8. I put oliviera sub but i wouldn't of been surprised if he got a ko because his left hook is amazing and hes been rocked and dropped by a check left hook throughout his career

@Erison, right on. I didn’t even see your post. In quick browsing I saw some discussion. I’m sure it influenced a moment in the round and had some level of impact. My stance remains, being Dustin conceded position very fast in the second out of fear for the sub. That’s fine. I get it. However, as I’ve said before and will again, I got no pity for the guy who gave the round away to avoid a position, basically looking for a stand up or the clock. I love DP. I thought that’s what ****** him mostly. Then the next round he still backed to the cage, where he’s most likely to get taken down. Then he still gave his back. I get your point and respect it. That said, even taken a point, he still got taken down and dominated in the third. He lost the fight more than the ref giving it away, despite the missed call. That’s just like my opinion though, man..you don’t have to agree. All gravy.
