@Hyrm The winner of Andrade and whoever she fights next. Word is Andrade may still be on the UFC 207 card.

@Hyrm Waterson vs. Rose would be amazing. I'm all for that match-up next, unless they decide to give her a Moroz.

@rappinpapsoda, he can beat Moontasri. Moontasri relies on distance, and Sage is best when he closes it. What he needs right now is a fight where he can showcase the real depth of his skills on the feet.

I don't think he can lose to Moontasri in a million years.

Also, if Moontasri isn't "a fight he can win" (which is what you said he needs), I think it's safe to say they should give up on trying to build a star out of him. With Moontasri as a glass ceiling you have no business being more than a passing episode in the UFC's roster.

I see Sage like Lawler's first UFC run.  he was hyped and then lost to people that looked like he should beat.  Years later, he came back and won big.  I think Sage can be like that. Moontasri is not that bad.  he has some high level striking that might give Sage a tough time.

Moontasri has somewhat good striking (I think "high level" is stretching it a bit), but he's nowhere near Sage when it comes to speed, athleticism, power and Sage has a much more diverse striking game with way more ways to attack. Also, Sage is a hard-working, devoted year-round athlete while as Moontasri is still winging it.

I don't see a guy like Moontasri having too much to offer Sage, even if his profile page reads Taekwondo background.

@Yoss I agree that if Sage fights Moontasri and loses, it's very concerning for him. I'd pick Northcutt to get him out of there by two rounds.

And I picked Gall, by the way. It was a tough pick considering Sage was the most experienced guy Gall's fought, but seeing Sage struggle on the ground against Barberena and Marin told me what I needed to know for that fight. I think Sage NEEDS to fight someone next that won't really trouble him on the ground. I could see Moontasri wanting to test his striking against Northcutt.

Well, they said Moontasri was a TKD champ so I would call that high level.

Yes, I would say that Sage would beat him most of the time but as we saw with Gall, he got tagged and looked terrible after that.

Does anyone else think Gall looks a little like nick diaz and talks about the same things just with a jersey accent? Mickey (ECND)   Gall.     (east coast nick diaz.) Please don't move down a weight class either. you are lean enough as it is. he even got a cut where diaz got them. the eyebrow area.

Sage going back down to lightweight: https://twitter.com/sagenorthcutt/status/810658683554267136

So, a match-up between he and Moontasri probably doesn't happen, as the latter should stay at welterweight.

Personally, I would LOVE to see Sage vs. Groovy Lando. If that doesn't happen next, it needs to at some point.

Maybe a good rebound fight for Sage in the meantime would be Cesar Arzamendia.

Sounds like both Northcutt and Gall are planning on their next fight being at 155.

Northcutt vs. Yusuke Kasuya would be solid. Kasuya doesn't seem like a guy that's gonna work to get it to the ground and is definitely beatable, but would be a reasonably decent win for Northcutt.

Gall vs. Michael McBride. Not a big name, not splashy, but a more than winnable fight.

@zarog, Kasuya's got a fantastic ground game (better than Gall's) and very good wrestling to go with it. I think it's an atrocious fight for Sage at this point.

I actually like the Vannatta fight but Sage is WAY too low in the rankings for that to happen.

@Yoss Sadly, yeah. Sage is probably at least two wins away from fighting Vannata. Hopefully he gets those victories because I think that could easily be a FOTN. At the very least, there would be a sick knockout.
