Crazy that the UFC expects people to fork out 60 dollars for a main card like that.

Yeah that seems pretty strange

It's becoming a trend that for a PPV card, the headliner on the Prelims is a more important fight than the opener on PPV. Faber is a recognizable name and he'll draw in casuals and sometimes-fans. He's a perfect lead-in for the PPV broadcast.

When most fans buy a PPV, it's for the headliner first, co-headliner second. In some cases the third fight down factors into the decision, but the PPV opening two bouts rarely -- if ever -- translate to increasing a buy rate.

However, there is some evidence to suggest that a strong lead-in on FOX Sports 1 can translate to a last-minute jolt to the buy rate.

@skelli, very good points. There are some great fights on this card, hopefully they hit some big numbers.

The card overall is very weak IMO, especially the undercard considering that is suppose to get people's interest to buy the PPV. Faber vs. Caceres isn't gonna cut it.

I don't know many fans that have the cash to throw down 60 dollars on a fight card and all they care about is the main event + co-main.

Read this on CagePotato:http://www.cagepotato.com/wild-rumor-of-the-day-ufc-174-did-less-than-100000-pay-per-view-buys/

I think if this is true, it's indicative that fans aren't gonna pay 60 dollars for these ******** cards.

That Wanderlei/Sonnen fight really held this card together IMO when it comes to excitement. I looked at this a few weeks back and thought this card was stacked. Now looking, not so much. I'm really excited for Weidman/Machida. Hall/Santos, Struve/Mitrione also interests me. Faber/Caceres should be fun.. but we all know Faber wins that one.

Main card? I like Brimage but that's ridiculous how watered down these cards are.
