Weidman vs. Machida Wiki Update Wiki

Originally scheduled to fight Vitor Belfort at UFC 173, middleweight champion Chris Weidman is now slated to take on the former UFC light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida. Weidman had to pull out of 173 and reschedule for UFC 175 due to minor surgeries on both knees. Undefeated in his professional career, Weidman should be coming into the bout confident after back-to-back wins over future hall-of-famer Anderson Silva.

Ranked second in the division, Machida has worked his way back to the title picture by winning four of his last five fights all against top ten opponents. Also on a vicious winning streak, third ranked middleweight Vitor Belfort was removed from the 173 card and his next opponent has not been determined.
