Predictions: 8 of 12 Winners, 5 Perfect, 525 Points   |   Tied for 357th

Prelims kick off on UFC Fight Pass at 630pm ET followed by four televised prelims on FOX Sports 1 at 8pm and the Pay Per View main card at 10pm.

Two titles, a high-steaks heavyweight fight and some nice match-ups down the rest of the card should hopefully make for a solid night of MMA.

@ED209 He said they had to have a discussion about Mir, but nothing for sure. Didn't sound good for him though.

Dana made it sound like Aldo would have to move up and vacate his title, but if he lost to Pettis he would get a shot at 145 again right away... unless he's injured I'm assuming. He wwould definitely have to vacate the title though.

The Varner/Trujillo fight is going to be tough to top for this year already. That was one badass ************* fight!!!!!! It had everything. It was back and forth, then Varner was getting the better, and seemingly had Trujillo finished, then out of nowhere Trujillo comes from behind with one shot. Saying, "I'm not going down without a fight." All the fights were pretty good overall. So far, the best card of 2014. Abel Trujillo is definitely a rising young star to watch for in the very near future.

I did not agree with the Makdessi decision at all. I'm going to say it was a robbery, but definitely an extremely questionable decision on the judges judging that fight. I mean really.........what ******* fight were they watching. I think an immediate rematch should take place and very soon. Other than that, it was a great card, and once again, I drank a lot of beer and had some great food with great friends. Thank you UFC!!!!

On a side note, if the Makdessi/Patrick and Watson/Catone decisions been called the right way by the judges, I would be 10 out of 12 with 6 perfect, but it didn't go that way, so shoulda, coulda woulda don't paint the fence.

Ok so I started watching the Fight Pass prelims and my internet went out so I headed to my buddy's to watch the televised ones.

Impressed by Lee in his debut. Iaquinta/Lee easily best of the 4 FS1 prelims.

Cariaso/Martins questionable.

Catone/Watson close.

Thought Makdessi won but close.

Man I don't even like Varner so making me give him deserved props sucks but damn! What a fight!

Lineker should've stuck with the body shots. Neither has anything for MM.

Mir hung tough but Reem with a clear decision and actually showed cardio.

Moral victory for Lamas. Did much better than I expected. I now think Pettis/Aldo is a tossup.

My buddy and I were talking before the ME and saying how Herb was closing in on Big John for best/most consistent ref because he hadn't made any really bad calls and then this :(

If anyone should be pissed at Herb, it's Barao as he was well on his way to a win (probably: see Trujillo/Varner) but was robbed of the glory by a gunshy Dean. Faber was clearly "intelligently defending himself" and Renan wasn't even looking at him but at Herb while throwing rapid-fire, unaimed & blocked hammerfists.

Can't give the event overall any better than a 4/10.

I sort of understand why Aldo would have to vacate. The UFC makes more money with 2 champs than with one because a fighter can only fight so many times. Double the champs, double the title fights.

But still, would be really cool to have a dual champion.

Just watched the post-fight press conference and Dana contradicts himself with decisions he's made in the past. He says Aldo has to vacate his FW title to fight Pettis at LW but however, BJ Penn did NOT have to vacate his title to fight GSP at WW. What the **** is that ****? Why does BJ get special treatment and Aldo does not?

Probably the closest I'll ever get to winning a UFC event. Just checked and if Makdessi had got the decision win I would have had a solo win! Gutter...

Jamie Varner!!! Unfortunately, he didn't get the win, but what a great fight though. I still wish to see him as the champion he was when he was in the WEC.  I guess he has the Faber curse.

IF is the most powerful word Ronwah :)    but are you sure about that? Cuz I just looked and the guy that won had Makdessi by TKO 2 so wouldn't you only gain 25 pts on him?

I think you just looked at your own predictions haha
The guy that won had Patrick via decision so he would have dropped 75 and I would have gained 75 :)
But yeah, if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle and all that :P

Everyone saying Faber was doing "nothing" to defend himself because he was still "hugging" Barao's leg needs to rewatch Barao/Pickett (and Werdum/Vera, same principle). When you have a high level black belt who's throwing strikes that aren't designed to knock you out but instead distract you so they can gain a dominant position, it's much more important to defend the position than the strikes. Now Barao's strikes were FAR more effective than Werdum's BUT they weren't landing and he WAS LOOKING AT THE REF instead of picking his shots more carefully to more efficiently end the fight and I'm sure Faber was thinking "if I let go of this leg, he's going to take my back" since Barao's back take of Pickett was described as "matrix-like".

Again I think Barao would've won so he should at least as upset as Faber but given Faber's history and the position he's in having had so many title shots, I'm disappointed in Herb.

Oh I see you're right Ronwah. Well ok then IF Makdessi had won by KO/TKO I'd have won :)
