At UFC 157, Ronda Rousey's first defense of the women's bantamweight belt against Liz Carmouche is the main event. It's the only title fight on the card, and title fights getting main event status is a rule the UFC doesn't often break.

That didn't sit well with Dan Henderson's camp. He is fighting Lyoto Machida on the same card, and doesn't like being the second biggest name on the card. Gus Pugliese, Henderson's striking coach, told this to Gracie Magazine:

“Where I come from, there’s a pecking order for anything in life,” he said. “I believe in paying dues. In this particular case, ‘Hendo’ and Machida paid their dues a long time ago. For someone new to come in and have a free ride just seems unfair to them and the whole sport they helped build.”

Hendo didn't even comment on this. It was his camp. I feel that Yahoo reporters only write to tarnish the image of athletes. Hendo is a stand up guy, one of the most respected athletes in all of sports. He would be the last person to ever go after.

Hendo is so respectful and humble that he said Silva was ducking him despite Henderson being the one that got his ass kicked. he then went on to duck Lil Nog.

Hendo is so respectful and humble that he faked a knee to the head in the first Wanderlei fight and put on a performance that would make Josh Koscheck blush.

Hendo by no means ducked Lil Nog. He didn't want to take a five round fight. He said he would of fought him if it were 3 rounds but the UFC didn't want to do that, but you know you can twist things into whatever you want.

Lol at Hendo ducking someone. Go look at his records you fools. No other fighter has a better list of opponents win or lose.

I love how people are trying to nit pick Hendos career. No ones career is immaculate. Get over yourself. Should I go on how A.Silva got subbed by a bunch of hillbillies? How Fedor faced no real competition from 06-12? Every fighters has their imperfections. The fact still remains Hendo is 42, and a legend.

Rhonda needs to compensate dan..... I mean I don't get why dana has to go around flaunting to everyone because of all the compensation he has received.. I'm sure dan could use some right about now. Ridiculous!

I don't want to see title fights bumped down from the main event unless it's by another title fight.  Even women's title fights.  Rhonda's the champion, she deserves the main event.

If what Dana White has been saying is true, she will outdraw Henderson anyway.  Henderson was never a huge draw in the first place.

If hendo was in a title fight, he would be pissed if the co main event wanted to take his spot. A title fight is a title fight. It may not be the most popular division yet but it still deserves everyone's respect.

hiblet, lets not twiddle our thumbs in our asses here.. lets be real, I am a realist and can clarify to you in great detail as to why I am correct and you're wrong. But no need, as I have already addressed why the womens division would be better suited for all women events only in the UFC. I highly suggest you refer back to some of my previous threads. Actually, you know what I'll do you a favor and just bump the thread..

Lol wut? he didn't want to fight Lil Nog in a 5 rounder because he had a bigger advantage in a 3 rounder but couldn't get it, which is why he...*drum roll please*.....DUCKED LIL NOG!!

Far and away one of the WORST excuses i have ever heard.

You are 110% correct.

But when a person tries to say that someone who has a flawed record, has one of the greatest of all time, well then it needs to get called out.

Eg. Henderson beats Nog in a controversial decision and then when they rematch gets finished! yet people still try and count Hendersons "win" as an accomplishment. thats just nonsense. it doesn't happen in any other combative sport except for MMA.

Does it really matter? Hendo is still one of the highest paid fighter's in MMA history, so what if his beautiful face isn't on some ****** posters promoting the event. Large training camps need a PR liaison just like corporations or police departments have, keep this **** professional and cut down on the *****ing and moaning.

BTW my post is just a comment on the OP not to anyone I didn't bother to read all the back and forth butthurt about Hendos awesome career.

Henderson, unequivocally, has one of the greatest records of all time. I dont see any if, ands or buts about that.

What is amazing, albeit controversial.. is Dan Henderson is a middleweight! Niog went on a 14 fight winstreak after that in the HW division and before that, was on a 6 fight win streak, yet his only loss is to a middleweight! It's incredible.
