Hunt vs. Tuchscherer Wiki Update Wiki
The second bout of UFC 127 had Mark Hunt face off against Chris Tuchscherer.
Hunt winged a left hook to start the fight but missed. A right uppercut from Hunt went sailing in front of Tuchscherer's chin, and he countered with a punch of his own. A right landed from Hunt and then a two punch combination that dropped Tuchscherer to the mat. Tuchscherer stepped back to his feet but circled away cautiously. Hunt came forward firing and continued to own the striking exchanges. Blood trickled down Tuchscherer's left eye and the referee paused the bout to look at the grotesque eyelid. The doctor allowed the fight to continue and Tuchscherer immediately landed his first takedown of the fight. Working from the top in half guard, Tuchscherer attacked Hunt's left arm for a kimura. Hunt escaped the dangerous position - one which had been his downfall in prior fights - and survived until the end of the round.
Hunt pressed forward early in the second round, stalking his opponent. Hunt threw and partially connected with a left and a right, and stuffed a takedown attempt from Tuchscherer. Hunt jumped forward with an uppercut that barely missed, and scrambled out of the clinch. A moment later, a right uppercut landed square on the jaw of a bent over Tuchscherer, dropping him to the mat. Hunt walked away without bothering to follow up with any ground and pound, confident the fight was over. Indeed, as Tuchscherer attempted to get back to his feet, he stumbled and nearly fell back over as the referee called the end of the match.
Speaking to Joe Rogan in the post fight interview, Hunt commented, "It's so good to win tonight in my own home... thanks very much everyone, I want to say hi to my wife and my son."
