The fighters are weighed in and both Johny Hendricks and Ray Borg missed weight. Both fights are still a go.

We may have lost Velasquez-Werdum, but there are some great match-ups on this one along with a pair of extremely compelling title fights.

We've got one prelim on UFC Fight Pass at 730pm ET followed by FS1 prelims at 8pm. The PPV main card, as always, airs at 10pm.

Enjoy!

Watching the post fight show...

Very drunk, bear with me...

Nunes laughing off how easy it was to shrug off Rousey's take down set ups...

While Tate sits there awkwardly laughing at the idea...

Poor Miesha. lol

It was loud in the bar so I did not hear the whole story on the lucky kid with the belt. Was he picked to be there by Garbrandt or the UFC?

For someone who's whole style is so dependent on her grappling, on her feet Ronda Rousey really doesn't have well rounded grappling. When Nunes was lighting her up, Ronda's instinct was to try and reach and flail for seat belts and inside control and a head and arm, not even try and take a desperation shot and hang onto a leg and take her down. I'm not saying that her stuff from seatbelts, whizzers, her head and arm, and her mat work aren't great but having no way to close distance from space with any sort of leg attacks, like a high crotch, single or double really hurts her.  That's just my thoughts.

People have already said it but Ronda's loyalty to Taverdyan has sunk her career. She hit a ceiling a long time ago at Glendale she came out with a stagnet head and looking like her feet were stuck in cement. Worse yet her loyalty has dragged down Travis Brown's career as well as he has looked progressively worse since joining her at Glendale.

Imagine how much progress she could have made if she had joined a good camp.  She is a tremendous athlete and it's really a shame she wasted so much time with a trainer that did nothing for her.  Everything she achieved was in spite of Taverdian, not because of him.

She should have done the pressers. I know she was still angry about the negativity from here last loss but acting like a brat showing no humility guaranteed the same if not worse this time. It seems clear that she won't be fighting again but if she wants to fight I hope it's clear now that she needs to go to ATT or anywhere really besides sticking to what is certainly a lost cause. It would be hard to be a small or medium fish in a big pond but anyone near her that gives a damn needs to urge her to hang it up for good or join a better team. Heck even having Nunes coach her would be better that hanging with Edmond.

RESULT
  • It wasn't Nunes power or her accurate striking that won her the fight, it was the combination of both. Great.
  • I was shocked, not by the winner or the mode of finish but how quickly. I know both are quick starters and I expected a first round finish but not a first minute finish.

BLAME
  • I have read critiques of Edmond's ability as a technical coach but I believe the bigger issue is his lack of tactical ability.
  • I also read that Ronda's loyalty to Edmond is the reason she lost again but there is a saying "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me". Rousey should have known after the Holm loss she needed to change coach, so it wasn't her loyalty so much as her pride that lost her this fight (i.e. even with inferior coaching I can still win).

FUTURE
  • The talk in the lead-up to the fight was that she would most likely retire if she lost. I don't have a problem if she decides to go make babies with Travis Browne.
  • At this point I can't see her beating either Shevchenko (who out struck Holm) or Pena (who out wrestled Zingano).
  • The best scenario for Rousey (wants to be champ) and UFC (wants to make money) is if Ronda can make 125. Her nutritionist Mike Dolce said she could make 125.
  • The reason the UFC gave in and made 145 is because they had a star (Cyborg), so the best chance for getting 125 in the UFC is if they have one as well (Rousey). Wouldn't you like to see JJ vs Rousey for the inaugural 125 Flyweight title?
