Gunnar Nelson is fighting Jordan Mein at Fight Night 30 (England).

Abedi deserves another fight.

If it's only knees that are illegal then Trujillo's shots were completely legal because he hit him in the face with his thigh, just like Anderson/Chael II. They need to rematch.,

I'd only cut 2 fighters from last night: Edwards and Head, maybe Alloway.

Hioki/Elkins was HORRIBLE. Stand that l'n'p **** up, ref.

Mizu/Goyito, Dylan/Abedi, and McGee/Whittaker also deserved FOTN bonuses. Overall a damn good night of fights especially considering it's Wed. and free.(sort of)

Kelvin and Brandon Thatch were both impressive.

Cowboy came back but the entire 1st 2 rds I was thinking "Pettis broke him"  Didn't want it to be true so I'm glad he had the strong 3rd.

i actually enjoyed Hioki/Elkins and was really impressed with Darren beating Hatsu and grinding him down to get the win.   kind of reminds me of the featherweight equivalent of Jon Fitch with his style.

That would explain why I hated it. Control is a defensive tactic that amater wrestlers should be penalized and stood up for. I don't think any of his 3rd rd strikes were thrown with any other intent than to "keep busy" so as not to get stood up. Absolutely ZERO attempt at finishing.

Abel Trujillo's knee didn't make contact with Bowling's face, his thigh did. I hate that rule btw. On your hands and/or knees should NOT be considered a downed opponent and those knees and the upkicks Hioki could've landed should both be allowed imo.

they shouldn't be penalized for something that is ingrained in their sport. guys should gtet better guard games and be more active with submissions, sweeps, and stand ups.   also watching someone break someone's will is actually pretty interesting and that's why i like watching Darren fight. also his tenacity is very good. Mule that's like asking GSP to stop jabbing because he's not attempting to finish.

@mule I hate that dumb**** rule too, if the fighter were on his knees, back or maybe even one knee (maybe) it´s ok not to knee or kick them in the face/head but just puting your hand down while on your feet it just ****** gets me.  However I think the rule says knees or legkicks so in this case even if he hit him with his thigh it would be considered a kick to a grounded opponent which it sucks but I think is according to the actual rules

Bowling was still a downed fighter he was standing up and Trujilo kneed him in the face.

Look again at what part of Abel's leg actually makes contact with his face, it's his thigh a few inches above his knee. The knee hit the chest - JUST LIKE Anderson Silva did to Chael. I agree it's a gray area that definitely needs clarification.

Elkins and Hioki was one of the better grappling matches I've seen in a long time. You seriously want the ref to stand them up during all those reversals, sweeps, and scrambles? **** that ****.

Oh, and the second knee Trujillo threw exploded Bowling's nose due to hitting him flush in the dome.

Thigh hits him in the face on the first knee which I thought was clean, second one explodes his face. I dunno how much slower it has to be to convince the blind.

Have to agree that the second was pretty egregiously illegal.

When MMA fans can't agree on a fact like the fact that Roger Bowling's face got shattered by an illegal knee, ya know they're not going to agree on opinions.

if you watched the close up they showed during the fight the first knee hits his chest and the second knee hits his shoulder, not his face.... I watched it on a 70 inch HDTV and played it over. They were legal... Dana White gave Trujillo his win bonus...

That GIF you posted is a side view... they showed one up close with Trujillos back to the camera, that will review the truth.

What would settle all of this debate is just legalizing knees on the ground. No reason they shouldn't be allowed. Soccer kicks? No. Knees? Hellz to the yes.

Imagine how many finishes GSP would have with knees to the head on the ground?!?

I say let them knee to the head and soccer kick.  Just don't let them stomp.  If you can get head kicked standing, is it really that much more dangerous to allow them on the ground?

Why is everybody still discussing this? The way I see it, it was a accidental foul = NC.
