Wiki
UFC 91 Wiki
After going 1-1 in the UFC against Frank Mir and Heath Herring, WWE import Brock Lesnar received a title shot against Undisputed Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture. The decision to grant Lesnar the title shot was controversial. Some felt it was premature and marketing driven. Others argued the relative lack of depth in the heavyweight division at the time left no clear-cut contenders to the belt.
The main event showed Lesnar was deserving of his chance. He bullied the much smaller Couture, before finishing him with strikes on the ground in the second round to become the UFC Heavyweight Champion. The rest of the card was one of the best of the year, with all nine bouts shown on the Pay Per View broadcast.
