Wiki
Pride 31 Wiki
In the first Pride event of 2006, several of the promotion’s greatest heavyweight and middleweight fighters took center stage, with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Josh Barnett, Alistair Overeem, and Mark Coleman all earning victories.
Coleman earned a win over 2005 Middleweight Grand Prix Champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua when Rua broke his arm after bracing himself on a Coleman-initiated takedown. Following the victory, Coleman continued to attack a pain-wracked Rua after ignoring the referee’s instructions to stop, prompting Rua’s corner to storm the ring in one of the most intense post-fight confrontations in history.
