The fighters are weighed in and we're set for UFC 197: McGregor vs. Dana Whi ... Oh, I mean, Jones vs. OSP!!!

Seriously, though. It should be a fun little card.

Prelims kick off on UFC Fight Pass at 630pm ET before switching to FS1 at 8pm. The PPV main card, as always, goes down at 10pm.

Enjoy!

Anthony P.  looked off, way off, for startes he looked smaller I dunno if that could be USADA related or it was just m,y imagination, but size aside, he had no spark, he looked like he was just going trough the motions. kind of like a3nd and 3rd comeback BJ Penn. I don't know if he was sick or RDA borke him.

Jones was a very lucky guy tonight, I he had fought DC, or AJ, or Gus, hell if he would've fought a full camp OSP he would  have gotten his ass kicked real good, he looked bad, bottom of the tank UFC HW bad. I'm gonna give him the benefit of doubt and think it was just ring rust, but Im not convinced that it was just that.

good card in general except for the last fight, wasted time. MM looked impressive, Cejudo was looking good until he wasnt. MM was just at another level.

Yair Rodriguez was very fun to watch, impressive finish. Fili was a tough opponent and he walked trough him.

to bad a good card finished with a dud.

Everyone talking about how short notice OSP went the distance with JJ but nobody mentioning JJ took almost 2 years off and dominated a top ten guy.

When said top 10 guy broke his arm in the 2nd round, going the distance when you're supposed to be the greatest P4P fighter ever is not a quality performance. Also, see Dominick Cruz's layoffs and tell me all about how Jones' 15-month layoff makes it so special of a performance.

read "almost 2 years" as "well over a year" if that makes you feel better.

Lol at everyone suddenly pointing to Cruz as some magic medallion proving ring rust isn't real. All Cruz proved was he is an exceptional human being.

Y'all hating on Jones for not getting a finish is hilarious. And you can't act like OSPs arm broke all by itself.

I think you missed every point of the post.

The distinction with Cruz is because everybody keeps saying how great Jones is. If he is the greatest P4P fighter in MMA, yeah, a layoff shouldn't be a big deal. Also, 15-month layoffs in this sport are not all that uncommon as many that have been in the sport for 10 years or more will have similar gaps in their record (Aldo: 13 months between Mendes and Edgar; GSP: 19 months between Shields and Condit; Condit: 14 months between Woodley and Alves; Cruz: 36 months between Johnson and Mizugaki as well as 15 months between Mizugaki and Dillashaw; Lesnar: 12 months between Mir and Carwin; Ortiz: 14 months between Matyushenko and Shamrock as well as 14 months between Belfort and Griffin).

Of course OSP's arm was broken during the course of the fight. The point is, Jones fought a one-armed fighter for 15+ minutes and looked just okay doing it. It would be like if Aldo hadn't finished KZ after the dislocation.

We all talk about Ring Rust but I don't know if that was it. We all know Jones has more trouble with guys closer to his own height and reach. He manages to win but it's more of a struggle for him as we saw against Gustafson and now OSP. It's harder for him to stay out of range and with OSPs stopping power it certainly made Jon a little gun-shy in mixing it up. He didn't want to get clipped and so he did what he needed to do to win. If he would have mixed in his TDs in the 2nd instead of waiting til the 4th Jon likely could have got the finish since he does most his damage with GnP and has never been a power striker. When Jon is back in with a shorter fighter like DC we will see an entirely different Jones.
