Does this trend mean good things for the Hall of Fame?

Unlike FN 51 (Silva/Arlovski 2), naming this card Mousasi/Souza 2 shows a willingness by the UFC to acknowledge previous, non-Zuffa fights. I'm hoping this is a step towards the "UFC" Hall of Fame becoming a true MMA Hall of Fame with the inclusions of Helio & other pre-UFC 1 pioneers as well as Fedor, Sakuraba, and other PRIDE stars.

Yeah, I think you're reaching a bit ... it's just getting the 2 because it's the second time they fight regardless of when and where, don't see this impacting their HoF in any way, it's just how you do things in combat sports ... if BJ fought Machida again they'd do the same ...

Maybe it's just because none of the "official" rankings seem to remember those fights. On the SBNation MW rankings, only Helwani has Rockhold ahead of Jacare and none have Mousasi ahead of Jacare.

I think it'd be great if the UFC Hall of Fame became a MMA Hall of Fame... I doubt it hapens though. Atleast anytime soon.

Well it is the UFC hall of fame not the mma hall of fame so why would people be put in the UFC hall of fame due to things they done outside the ufc?

People will start getting inducted for their PRIDE accomplishments eventually. Dana White is in love with Sakuraba, he'll end up getting inducted eventually, and obviously it won't be for his UFC career. Guys like Fedor will be in eventually. It just takes time. 

So now the official UFC page doesn't have the "2" after ether this headliner or Silva/Arlovski and the order in which this one is listed shows an obvious flaw in the consensus rankings. Mousasi beat Jacare, both are clearly top conteners, and neither has beat or lost to a fighter significant enough to justify Jacare being ranked ahead.

Granted their fight was a long time ago in MMA terms but since then Jacare has lost to Rockold and his best win is Kennedy unless you're in love with Carmont and that wasn't a particularly impressive win anyway while Gegard has only lost to LHWs and by decision. I include Machida as a LHW because he was very highly ranked there as well as the former UFC champ. 

So since even the tap consensus has it the same way, can someone give me a legit reason for it because I don't see it and I don't consider the KO of Okami to be one and that's by far Jacare's most impressive performance.

I was just picking this card and thinking how much better quality it is overall compared to the upcoming 177 PPV. This event is looking like a 9.5/10 would bang.
