Silva vs. Nedkov Wiki

Originally logged as a third-round submission win for Silva via Arm Triangle Choke, this fight was overturned to a No Contest by the UFC after Silva tested positive for Marijuana metabolites a few weeks after the bout.

Thiago Silva met Stanislav Nedkov in the co-main event of UFC on Fuel TV 6 in the light heavyweight division.

Round 1

Nedkov attacked at the start, pushing Silva into the fence and firing off knees to the legs. Both men landed some bombs against the fence then jockeyed for position. Silva buckled Nedkov's knee on the break with a leg kick and Nedkov pushed him back into the fence. Silva landed a big knee on the break but again Nedkov clinched him up.

Round 2

Silva landed a hard leg kick followed by a groin strike to start the second, leading to a momentary pause while Nedkov recovered. Silva was throwing with serious power on the restart and again Nedkov rushed forward to pin him against the fence. Silva again landed some punches on the break then was stifled, but still remained the more active fighter in the clinch. Silva punished the legs with kicks on another break and landed a nice cross before Nedkov tied him up again. Silva got the better of the striking after another break but Nedkov dropped him with a big right hand and landed some solid punches from the top before the horn.

Round 3

Silva pounded the legs again with kicks to start the third and the light heavyweights exchanged punches. Silva appeared to have more energy than Nedkov and hurt him with a few punches then got a big takedown and moved into the mount with ease. Silva postured up and landed a huge right hand that had Nedkov turning. Silva slid off the mount with an Arm Triangle Choke and drew the tap for the first finish of the night.

The end came 1:45 into the third round, giving Silva the submission victory.
