idc how skilled you are, if you keep your hands by your waist a lot I'm going to call it a "flaw". there's a reason fundamentals are important and keeping your hands up is a fundamental part of defense as far as I'm aware.

Anyways I think Yan will struggle at range and to find a way in, but once he does find a way in the pocket he should tear O'Malley apart. Also if Yan can take him down at will the fight might be a wrap, he can just grind O'Malley out for 15 minutes unless he takes a crazy upkick or gets lazy and gets caught in a quick submission.

Hard disagree on hands down being an innate "flaw" in an mma context. In some situations against some opposing styles it's a flaw but it's also an advantage in others. It's a style that can be exploited but that's the case with every style in mma. If you have the timing and reflexes to pull off a hands down stance history has shown it can be very successful.

I feel like he doesn't have enough experience quite yet to keep going for those "flashy" things. He does the whole "dribbling an imaginary basketball" thing, he gets caught in exchanges clean when I think he otherwise wouldn't have if he would have just tried to be a bit more fundamentally sound, and I think we've seen that in a lot of cases where people "reach" out and lean back against strikes it has also lead to some very nasty KO's to be on the receiving  end of.

I mean I get what you're saying, the guy could even make me eat my words entirely and he could go finish out his entire career never having been knocked down by a punch and by keeping up with his flashy style. I just think that if we're going to analyze two fighters, then this is something that can be seen as a flaw. I personally haven't seen him use it that effectively against higher and higher competition, and now he's getting the #1 guy in the division. It just seems to me like it's a pretty steep hill to climb if you're still stuck doing all this flashy **** in your fights. We've seen the flashy stuff work, but we also seen the other side, especially the longer a fighter's career goes. Think of Tony Ferguson. he had almost no striking fundamentals, he was mostly just very creative and flashy, and once he started getting figured out that type of style has shown to be a complete detriment to his health.

Also think, Sean has been hurt frequently in nearly every single UFC fight after landing and getting hit with leg kicks. If someone can bust his legs up and find an opening when his hands are down, he's going to get slept badly imo. You can keep pointing out to different fighters having success, but I'm not seeing the same stuff from Sean, sorry.

Sean doesn't dereve to fight Yan off of Merit, He hasn't beaten anyone ranked, Why does he derseve to fight the number 1 ranked guy, Only reason this fight make sense is O'Malley might be the biggest name in the division, And Casual fan might not no what up with this fight

I'm still down, I alway want to see O'Malley get slept, Sean is just the worst

Name some fighters who are "very successful" in combat sports with a hands down style? The most notable with a proper hands down style would be Prince Naseem in my opinion, while it worked for him up to a point, his style was also his undoing and isn't forthcoming to longevity. Floyd obviously pioneered the shoulder roll but that is a technical move and requires expert timing and reactions and is still a far more successful defence then relying on pure head movement. To say the style is very successful would imply that a lot of the top fighters were doing this and it is just not true. The only argument for the hands down style being very successful is from an entertainment factor, it is far more risky but far more conducive to excitement. Just my 2 cents!

JReynolds47 Picking O'Malley against Yan is hands down the most ******** read I've seen on this site all year. He barely sc****d through Munoz and Yan beat the **** out Sandhagen who is the same height,  has two inches less reach, and is a roundly better fighter than 'Booger' Sean O'****ley and his carnival-shaved-ice pubes bouffant in literally every aspect of MMA.

I have armed the meme cannon.

I wouldn't even call the philly shell a hands down style. it's an amazing guard. but yes you're right, there aren't many fighters who have really made an impact in their sport with a hands down style. high guard is king

He absolutely quit. The abrasion was not in the eye he was "poked" in, he was hit with a legal shot and when his other eye got brushed he took the opportunity to quit knowing his other eye was compromised.

The problem with Reynolds is that he doesn't understand how MMA is scored, and he's a narcissist. When you blend the two together, you get the usual angsty teen Tap ****tard who throws a ****fit whenever he picks somebody who doesn't win. He's not unique. This site is infested with such people.

Munhoz was having a good fight. It's not like he was getting blown out. If that fight had continued it likely would have gone to split. There is absolutely no observable basis, or logic, to the claim that her quit.

He's touting that not because he genuinely believes it to be true, but because he picked O'Malley. The irony is, he's not even really defending O'Malley. He's defending his ego.

What a pathetic, trivial mind.
