i completely agree with you about craig, those wins are impressive. I just wonder why he's the betting underdog. is it the age difference being 5 years ? or because krylov has more fights. i cant figure it out

I really don't know. It's a fairly close one for me but Craig should definitely be favourite.  Maybe it's to do with krylov fighting ankalaev, Glover and Jan in the last 3 years so they think he has the experience? +400 for a Craig sub seems like a steal to me though

The thing with Paul Craig in the fight is that he's path to victory is most likely a submission from bottom, I think all the power bottom stuff in MMA it's work to an extent, But it usually stop working because being on top is so more effective, A submission from bottom is more of an 'Anything can happen in MMA" more then a reliable way of victory, Because it somewhat rare you see a submission from guard in MMA , Most submession are from top, Also just being on top just punching might be the most reliable way to win a fight honesly,

But Paul Craig did submit both Jamahal and Ankalive from guard, So he good at submetting people off you back,

Allen vs Hooker is interesting. Allen does his best work in the pocket or just at the edge of it where he'll hand fight with the lead hand, lean back when the opponent throws to dodge then come back with a straight left. Alternatively dart in with a jab to the face or the body from just outside.
He stands in a wide stance which can leave him exposed to leg kicks though he does have very good foot movement. I know his fight vs Jordan Rinaldi is 3 years ago but in it he struggled a bit with getting past the longer reach of Rinaldi even though it was only 2 inches difference.
Hooker is a much better striker than Rinaldi and has a 5 inch reach advantage.

If it was a small cage I'd say that would favor Allen as he could more easilly mix in clinchwork or even go for a takedown but they are fighting in a big cage for this one.

My main problem with Hooker is I think he was already killing himself getting to 155 and he's been in war after war which will take a toll on the body even though he's only 32. Allen is on the opposite trajectory but only fighting once a year makes it tough to get a reliable read on his form.

I think this match deserves to be a pickem although I lean sligthly in the favor of Allen on balance. Weigh ins could definitely sway me one way or the other.

I think one potential X factor could be wrestling. I know Dan hooker is not a great wrestler and similarly, allen has very good tdd, but, when he does use his wrestling hooker can be quite effective as we saw him dominate haqparast with the wrestling and he even notched 4 takedowns against poirier. The only reason I bring this point up is the burnell fight. Allen got taken down 6 times and was on his way to losing the fight before locking up a nasty front choke. Again, I seriously doubt hooker goes in there and wrestles but just something to consider

It would not be a bad idea for either fighter to mix in wrestling in my opinion just to get the opponent thinking about it. If we assume Hooker can win a point fight on the outside though it would especially benefit him as it could make Allen hesitant about entering the pocket too aggressively or risk a level change TD. Allen showed a strong ability to get back on his feet though against Burnell so I don't know if it would necessarily work but it'd be worth a try for Hooker in my opinion. Assuming he has the gas for it after the weight cut. Doing stuff outside your main expertise is always more draining on the gastank.

True but honestly who knows what will happen. Both guys have very good tdd and are not wrestlers by trade so we may very well see a striking match. Tough one to call but my pick is purely dependent on the weigh ins. I also think it will be interesting to see Dan make it ugly. Allen is very low volume (besides the Gilbert Melendez fight) and hooker is conversely high volume and loves to make ugly brawls.
