Dontbescared, good question about Mcmann. The way the UFC puts their cards together makes no sense to me at times. Jack May and Shawn Jordan is a main card fight, and Formiga and Fun Size is a prelim. I think they try to sprinkle the "good fights" in at strategic locations to keep people viewing.

At what point do you just train and gameplan specifically to fight from guard? This seems like a good place to start.

This is one of those fights that's kinda odd to score. Positioning is clearly being controlled by McMann, but Murphy has outlanded her at an over 2 to 1 clip on ground strikes.

Mcmann is clearly controlling the fight. This is what bothers me at times in MMA. People complain about how great wrestlers will lay in their guards and control them. How about not getting put on your back? little pitty patty strikes off your back should not win you a fight nor should just throwing up your legs for a triangle attempt either. If you want to win a fight off your back you have to be threatening with serious submission attempts, sweeps, and always getting up.

Uh, Lauren Murphy may have seriously just stolen this fight. I wouldn't be surprised at all if her activity from her back in the first two rounds got her one of those rounds, and she clearly won the third.

Regardless of who gets the win, Murphy proved she belongs in the UFC. Can't wait to see her against someone who isn't the best wrestler in WMMA.

I gave Murphy the 3rd round. I think it should be 29-28 McMann but wouldn't be shocked to see a judge give credit to some of those ground strikes in the first.

I score it 29-28 Murphy and I picked McMann by decision. There's a fine line to me between effective wrestling/grappling and just laying on top of someone while they beat the **** out of you.
