My MMA Rankings
Top Light Heavyweight MMA Fighters
Started watching again in August. Ranking fighters as I go, so that is why certain ones are not ranked. Ranked purely off my perception of them, not looking at past results.
-
1
- Magomed Ankalaev
- 19-1-1, 1 NC
-
-Known as an elite wrestler, but absolutely dominated a striker standing. Well rounded, can do it all. Crisp strikes, potential title winner.
-Also watched his fight vs. Krylov. It was surprisingly close standing, and he mostly won with some wrestling. Could have respected his opponent a bit too much. Clearly has the tools to win almost any fight in this division, and he is very good standing, but maybe not quite at the level above some others I thought.
-Once again, vs. Santos, kinda feel like he can respect his opponents too much. His tepidness could hurt him with the judges too. He does have wrestling in his back pocket when needed, but he also isn't killing it with that damage wise. Still a very good fighter near the top.
-Another tepid fight vs. Anthony Smith, which he eventually won because of Smiths broken leg. His stand up still feels below the best by a solid amount.
-Draw vs. Jan. He showed once again he isn't quite on the level of the best standing, bu the does have great wrestling and grappling in his back pocket. He took until the 4th round to really go for takedowns, which makes no sense, but that is why he didn't win.
-NC vs. Johnny Walker, but I thought he was mostly winning before that with his boxing, though getting leg kicked is a problem.
-
2
- Alex Pereira
- "Poatan"
- 10-2-0
-
Great performance vs. Jan. His takedown defense is not perfect, but it is improved. And standing, hes about as good as it gets, though he still can get tagged.
-Beat Jiri pretty nicely standing. Standing he is just so good, and the grappling is better, but when he is on the ground, he really doesn't get up quickly.
-
3
- Aleksandar Rakić
- "Rocket"
- 14-4-0
-
Polished stand up fighter. Very tepid vs. Santos, has some nice kicks, but just wouldn't put it all out there. Might be too willing to get to decision. Didn't show his wrestling but apparently he has it too.
-Had a nice performance vs. Jan. Was a touch behind in the stand up department, but the wrestling and ground control were good. He is really solid and talented, but seems a bit below the best.
-
4
- Jiří Procházka
- "BJP"
- 30-4-1
-
Extremely impressive fighter. He keeps his hands low, and definitely gets tagged because of that, but his chin is also excellent. He has a great array of strikes, he has power, he uses kicks well, stayed active, can wrestle, and can get up from being taken down. The amount he gets hit is the main concern, because everything else is excellent, and I think he allows himself to take some damage because he knows he can dish it back.
-vs. Glover, he did show some holes with takedown defense. But his defensive grappling is strong, and maybe more importantly, his cardio and chin are nuts. His stand up remains excellent as well.
-Lost vs. Pereira. He is just so wild, it can lead to issues standing, as good as he is there.
-
5
- Jan Błachowicz
- 29-10-1
-
Solid stand up fighter, very good boxer. Defense on the ground is lacking. His takedown defense seems solid, but isn't impenetrable. His fight IQ also isn't always the best. Was the champ, really good fighter, but definitely has more flaws than most champs.
-Also watched his fight vs. Izzy. It was a good technical fight, but he mostly won due to his wreslting against a much lighter opponent. Was not super explosive in that fight.
-vs. Rakic, he looked very good standing, great checking of leg kicks, fast combos. He might be the best stand up guy in this division outside of Jiri. But once again, his lack of weapons from his back is a big flaw. He spent 3+ minutes on his back and couldn't get up.
-Same as ever vs. Ankalaev. He looks so solid and technical standing, but the takedown D just isn't good enough, and he can never seem to get up from off his back. He drew because Ankalaev didn't really go for takedowns until late.
-Wore down vs. Pereira. Showed his wrestling, but couldn't keep it up, and couldn't keep the takedowns going. He is pretty dangerous still, but also has clear holes in his game.

6
- Jamahal Hill
- "Sweet Dreams"
- 12-2-0, 1 NC
-
-His win before his fight vs Craig was against Saint Preux who really sucked. Still has some work to do. Wasn't in a long fight, but struggled hard against Craig on the ground.
-Really showed his stand up skills vs. Crute and his power. Great accuracy on his hook, hitting it twice and getting a tough fighter in Crute out of there fast. Had to respect him a lot more after this one. But I also can't forget how badly he got beat by Paul Craig.
-He showed vs. Walker just how dangerous his stand up is, and how good his 1 hit ability is. Still need to see him face more takedown before I can really rank him up, but as a pure stand up fighter, he is the real deal.
-Had an interesting fight vs. Thiago Santos. I think he is very matchup dependent. He got taken down a lot by a non wrestler, but was able to mostly avoid damage. He probably loses if its a 3 round fight, but in the 4th round, thiago gassed, he didn't, and he finished him. I do think his takedown defense is improving though, which is what he needs. Dynamic standing, though against a better fighter, didn't blow me away as much.
-Had a great performance vs. Glover. His takedown defense looked way better, though not perfect. Really showed off more kicks and knees. He might just be getting better. Glover is old and maybe declining from his Jiri fight, but Jamahal is atl least very good.
-
7
- Carlos Ulberg
- "Black Jag"
- 9-1-0
-
Technical kickboxing. He is very tall and long which helps him land. He is in great shape, and had great cardio too. Showed some limited wrestling too. Solid fighter, but his opponent had weak output, and I need to see him tested more.
-Great performance vs Tafon. Lit him up with one of the hardest jabs you will see. He appears to be improving, and his length is a big edge vs. most in the division. Very promising prospect.
-Wow. I still need to see his ground skills tested more, but he is easily one of the most skilled stand up fighters in the division. Technical, crisp., long, and power. He is really good. \
-Took out Ihor, who I don't rate highly. Still would like to see him tested by a decent opponent, but his stand up is fantastic.
-Still isn't fighting great foes, but he very easily handled Da Un Jung. His stand up is so dangerous, and he showed decent grappling. All the skills are there, just need to see him tested
-
8
- Nikita Krylov
- "The Miner"
- 30-9-0
-
Very solid stand up fighter. Disciplined. Had some wrestling, but then mostly lost his fight with Anka due to getting controlled on the ground. Didn't seem super explosive either, but he is definitely good.
-Looked good vs. Paul Craig until he got caught in a triangle. Not something he has to worry about tons in this division.
-Destroyed Gustaffson. His stand up can be pretty electric, and he is relentless. Good explosiveness. And he was easily beating Craig if he didn't let Craig do what he wanted. Very solid.
-Had a nice performance vs. Volkan. Got lit up early, but then came back, landed nice stand up, and used his wrestling well. He is uber aggressive, which can be a positive and sometimes a negative. Dangerous, but probably not defensively sound enough to be any higher than this.
-Nice win vs. Spann. He looked really strong grappling, and got a finish, a side of him I haven't seen as much.
-
9
- Azamat Murzakanov
- "The Professional"
- 13-0-0
-
Undefeated. Very impressive fighter on DWCS. Patient, nimble, and then serious power and accuracy with his strikes. He is going to move up fast;
-vs. Tafon, he actually struggled in spots. A lot of head hunting, looked great earlier, but then seemed to get tired, frustrated, and didn't do a lot of combos. He finished the fight with a knee in the 3rd. So he is always dangerous, and in a bad division, he is scary, but that fight made me realize he had a ways to go. Also tried wrestling several times and didn't have much success.
-Looked great vs. Devin Clark. Super nimble on the feet again. I noticed he was working the body well, and that led to the finish. The offensive wrestling has not impressed me, but he should have the defensive skills, and he is very good standing.
-Looked fantastic in round 1 again vs. Jacoby, but then slowed down from there. He claims he broke his arm in round 2, so maybe that really is why he slowed down, but I've also seen him slow down before. But still, very skilled in a bad division.
-
10
- Phil Davis
- "Mr. Wonderful"
- 24-7-0, 1 NC
-
Super athlete. Elusive on his feet though not super effective there. Is an excellent wrestler, but also doesn't do tons of damage there. Can easily win any fight with his wrestling, even if he is kind of boring with it.
-Lost to Corey Anderson, but I had him winning in a very close one. Lost some of the wrestling exchanges, but was surprisingly decent standing, at least scoring points. But the lack of damage is concerning for taking on the very best.
-
11
- Corey Anderson
- "Overtime" | 18-6-0, 1 NC
-
Big power guy. Knocked out Ryan Bader pretty damn fast. So I didn't see tons of him, but he's a scary dude. Has some GNP too.
Had a nice performance vs. Nemkov. Lost a bit standing, but showed he has strong wrestling in his bag too. Has multiple good ways to win fights.
-Could not take Nemkov down, and got outvolumed like crazy and lost his rematch. Tough loss for him, but he is still dangerous enough at this division
-Beat Phil Davis, but I had him losing. He actually has very good wrestling, he won some of those exchanges with Davis, but he didn't do much damage with it, and was super inactive standing. Still good for this division, but he is over-reliant on his wrestling.
-
12
- Johnny Walker
- 21-8-0, 1 NC
-
-Stand up fighter. Had been kind of wild in past fights, but was very disciplined vs. Santos at the cost of taking 0 risks and not throwing much, especially not much of substance. Takedown defense seems defense, but just seemed a few steps short of being elite.
Threw some OK looking stuff vs. Jamahal Hill, but then got annihilated. He has a lot of holes standing right now, and not enough of a ground game to compensate. Can still be dangerous, but he is not great and has lost a lot of fights recently.
-Got taken down early vs. Ion, but showed nice grappling and got a submission. An element to hi sgame I haven't seen, and he might be better off focusing on that.
-Had an explosive performance vs. Paul Craig. He was patient, and then exploded with the stand up. His 6'6 height and reach can be a huge advantage and make him scary.
-He really uses his range well, did good against Anthony Smith. Did get taken down once, but avoided damage. Beat a pretty solid foe.
-Was in a close enough fight with Ankalaev before ending in a NC. He still does seem to be getting better, and he has an insane reach edge on everyone.
-
13
- Khalil Rountree Jr.
- "The War Horse" | 13-5-0, 1 NC
-
Monster of a man, He is scary. He was pretty patient, countered well, and then when he landed, he refused to let him escape. Very impressive. I'm not sure if he is as technical as some of the best, but he looks great.
-Looked a bit more human vs. Jacoby. He just gets a bit too wild, so he isn't amazing vs. a more technical guy, but he is still dangerous, and hits with power. He won, but probably lost in my eyes.
-Killer KO vs. Daukaus. He is definitely extremely dangerous. Looked good standing.
-Took out Anthony Smith, It was close in strikes, but he was hitting the bigger shots by far. Scary power, and he has looked a bit more controlled since the Jacoby fight.
-
14
- Dustin Jacoby
- "The Hanyak" | 19-8-1
-
-Kickboxer. Took the fight on short notice, and he can definitely outstrike less skilled guys. Didn't have overwhelming power, and didn't strike me as absolute elite. He gassed a bit, but might be because of the short notice.
-More of the same vs. Olek. Solid stand up, good fight IQ, not elite cardio. Showed a willingness to clinch when in trouble. Also won the fight with a hurt foot.
-Nice performance vs. Da Un Jung. Not much going on, but he landed a big one and took him out. Nice feints, and technique. Very technical. Good fighter.
-Had a super technical/impressive performance vs. Rountree. Took the loss, but most thought he won. The lack of power is the one thing that can hurt him, but he is a very talented kickboxer, great cardio, very solid.
-Lost vs. Azamat, but did way better as the fight went on. Still hate the lack of power, but he is a tough out for anyone here.
-Took out Kennedy, and had the power I haven't seen as much of. Great performance
-Lost vs. Menifield. He looked good most of the way, but he was caught twice. Once again, lack of power hurts him. He is super talented, but he generally has to fight a perfect fight to win.
-
15
- Glover Teixeira
- 33-9-0
-
Hes older, so it doesn't always look amazing, but very solid fighter. Solid stand up, good wrestling, and great attacks on the ground. Very smart fighter, won't make mistakes.
He probably beats Jiri if he doesn't get tired in round 5. Great wrestling, BJJ, and his stand up is good enough, good power. No serious holes. He is 42 so you wonder how long he can be at this level, but he is still very good.
Retired. Lost pretty bad vs. Hill. His wrestling didn't look as sharp, and his stand up wasn't as good either. I think the damage vs. Jiri did him in. Great career.
-
16
- Ryan Spann
- "Superman" | 21-10-0
-
-Powerful fighter. Got caught by some stand up, but can catch people too. Solid, but greener so still has some work to do.
Looked Great vs. Ion Cutelaba. Hit some stand up, got taken down a few times, but got up fast. Then caught a nasty guillotine as soon as he could. Has real skill.
-Wow. He absolutely lit up Reyes. Huge power, looks crisp standing. He claims this is the first time he fully trained for a fight, so we will see. Said his cardio is way better now. I need to see him vs. more people, but man he looks tremendous.
-Lost to Krylov. He just got outgrappled for the most part, but still has a lot of skills.
-Lost vs. Smith but it was VERY close and I thought he was probably winning. Maybe just not as technical as you would like standing, but he is ok.
-
17
- Vitor Petrino
- "Icão" | 11-0-0
-
Dude is an athletic beast. Nasty KO on Contender Series. He can be a bit sloppy, and he got tagged once, but he showed a chin, showed an ability to escape submissions, showed GNP, and most importantly, showed power. Guy he fought did not seem bad either. I'm a bit worried about his gas tank with his build, but I think he can steam roll some guys.
-More of the same vs. Anton. He showed insane power, and insane athleticism. He really isn't technical, but he is so explosive it doesn't always matter. Scary dude. If he can clean some things up, he has a lot of potential.
-Took out Prachino. It's more of the same. He is getting better, and his strength/athleticism are insane. But he still isn't super technical. Great power. He has tons of potential, but I still don't think I see him taking out top tier guys. Cardio seems decent.
-Great KO vs, Modestos. He is just a pure athlete, and his power is nuts. I think he is getting better too. Strong prospect.
-
18
- Kennedy Nzechukwu
- "African Savage" | 12-5-0
-
-Very hesitant fighter. Very high guard, woith not a lot of movement, and not really throwing combos. Just seemed very skittish.
-Looked better vs. Negumereanu. He is so long for this division which helps a lot. But still a little too tepid. Showed pretty good takedown defense, and his jab is excellent.
-Looked a little lackluster standing vs. Roberson, but took him down and was able to GNP him to a finish. But I've never seen him wrestle before so I'm not sure if this was just Roberson having bad takedown defense. Kennedy is a huge man for this division which helps.
-Nice win vs. Ion. He got tagged early and wrestled, but avoided damage, then his stand up looked sharp in R2. He is long as hell, and he seems to be learning how good his knees can be, he can land flush to a standing opponent without trying hard. Still don't like how he lost R1, but he seems to be getting better.
-Nice win vs. Devin Clark. Did get tagged once, but showed awesome takedown defense, had power, great work in the clinch, and a nasty standing choke. He has a lot of skills, and his body for this division is great.
-Got taken out by Dustin. Tough performance, but it can happen in a stand up fight between big guys.
-
19
- Alonzo Menifield
- "Atomic" | 15-3-1
-
Very wild stand up, very wide punches, but killer leg kicks, and jabs, amazing cardio too. Power when he lands and gets more controlled. Finishes a lot of fights.
Against William Knight, his stand up still just feels sloppy. I think he did get tired in this one too. He showed some wrestling, but it wasn't perfect. Spent a lot of time in the clinch doing nothing which cost him.
-Showed his GNP vs. Askar, nice wrestling, but his opponent might not have been great. He is definitely a physical beast though.
-Had a really solid showing vs. Misha Cirkunov. He shook away the takedown attempts right away and his power is insane. It ended quick so I'm not sure if he is way more technical, but he definitely has top tier athleticism.
-Interesting fight vs. Crute. I think he gassed out. Early on he was destroying Crute standing. But his takedown defense really wore down. Dangerous dude, but hasn't put it all together
-Beat Crute the 2nd time around. Looked pretty good standing again, and then showed a nice guillotine.
-Beat Jacoby. He was losing a lot of the fight, but landed a few big shots that tipped the balance. I worry about how wild he is still, but he is definitely very dangerous.
-
20
- Anthony Smith
- "Lionheart" | 37-19-0
-
-Really talented fighter. Black belt BJJ, good wrestling, power with his stand up. Finishes a lot of fights.
-Lost his fight with Anaklaev. It was quite close, and then he broke his leg. His stand up definitely isn't super high level, but it is good enough. Would have been interesting to see him go the distance with Anka.
-Didn't look amazing vs. Walker. Couldn't deal with his range. Did land occasionally, showed some wrestling, he still has a lot of skills but age and damage might be catching up with him.
-Showed that he still has something in the tank with a close win vs. Spann, Didn;t blow me away, but he is still well rounded just about everywhere.
-Got taken out by Rountree. Just feel like this dude has taken an insane amount of damage, and he is slowly going to keep diminishing. Got rocked several times this fight and was on wobbly legs multiple times.
-
21
- Philipe Lins
- "Monstro" | 18-5-0
-
Pretty well rounded fighter. Not super explosive, but solid enough standing. Some wrestling, GNP, and had good cardio too. Didn't blow me away, but he can win a lot in a bad division.
-Ran through OSP. Nice power. Looks pretty quick and crisp at this division. Need to see more, but he is looking good.
-Had an OK win vs. Grishin. He definitely has hand speed. Tried a lot of subpar grappling. Didn't overwhelm standing, but was good enough. I think hes got enough tools to sneak out wins vs. a lot of LHW. .
-
22
- Yoel Romero
- "Soldier of God" | 16-7-0
-
Bellator. 45, but still is in great shape, has solid stand up, but he is way too patient with it, and his sprawl looked awesome too. Still a very good fighter.
-Lost vs. Nemkov. Has damgerous spots, but he is just too inactive, and his age might be catching up with him.
-
23
- Volkan Oezdemir
- "No Time" | 19-7-0
-
Known as a stand up fighter, but outclassed by a better fighter, Ankalev. Seemed mostly able to keep fights standing, but obviously isnt in the absolute upper echelon of striking.
-Great takedown defense vs. Paul Craig. I was stunned at how often he was losing striking exchanges though, and didn't show tons of power. But showed good GNP from the top, and good skills at avoiding submissions. He has solid talent but isn't blowing me away.
-vs. Krylov he came out way more aggressive than I'm used to. Landed big, but then kind of gassed out. Mostly got controlled, and started losing standing. I think Krylov is quite good, so tough to mark him down too much, but I do worry he might be a bit washed.
-Took out a debuting Bogdan pretty easily with stand up, and some wrestling, and a sub. For this bad division, he is pretty good.
-
24
- Dominick Reyes
- "The Devastator" | 12-4-0
-
Pretty polished stand up fighter, tagged Jiri quite a few times, but just couldn't put enough power oin it, and eventually got taken out. Seemed pretty well rounded, but a step below the best.
-He got shelled bad by Ryan Spann. It was the kind of KO that makes you worry about how they will perform in the future, especially after the Jiri KO. It was a short fight and he got hit hard multiple times. Really tough to rank at this point.
-
25
- Antônio Carlos Júnior
- "Cara de Sapato" | 16-5-0, 2 NC
-
Shoeface! Won by submission in 20 seconds. Actually had some nice looking stand up before locking in the submission as well. He looked great.
-Won easily vs. Souto, but really struggled to get takedowns and did not look nearly as dynamic. Looked much more uncomfortable standing as well. Still has a lot of skills, but that fight exposed him a bit.
-
26
- Vitaly Bigdash
- 12-3-0
-
Not sure what weight class he will be at going forward, was at middleweight at one point, but he looked very good in ONE. Good takedowns and GNP in particular, didn't look bad standing, and won with a submission.
-Vs a better stand up fighter, Bigdash wasn't quite as good standing. But he does still have just excellent wrestling. His wrestling is tough for many in this weight class to stop.
-He got submitted by De Ridder in the first round. Had a nice guillotine attempt but just can't grapple on that level.
-
27
- Rob Wilkinson
- "Razor" | 18-2-0, 1 NC
-
Quick fight vs. Monte in PFL. He got tagged, but recovered with some wrestling, and then landed his own shots + a nasty knee that finished things. He is on a nice streak in PFL.
-
28
- Tyson Pedro
- 10-5-0
-
He fought a terrible opponent, so it's tough to fully judge him. But he looked pretty skilled and athletic standing. Has some power for sure.
-Fought another terrible fighter in Harry Hunsucker and finished him quick. Definitely has stand up skill, just need to see the opponents upped. He has fought 2 garbage foes.
-Lost to Modestos. I thought it was close, but he was just a bit too inactive. Might have gassed. Did not look nearly as good when he wasn't fighting one of my worst guys. Showed a bit of wrestling but didn't really use it. He is OK.
-Beat Anton easily. He can definitely take out the easy guys, I just need to see him do this against bettter guys, but he looked good.
-
29
- Maxim Grishin
- "Maximus" | 32-10-2, 1 NC
-
Lost vs. Lins. He Looked OK. Decent defensively, but his stand up seemed pretty basic. Decent timing on some stuff, but no combos, and just didn't do enough to win. I don't think he was bad, but definitely didn't impress.
-
30
- Ion Cutelaba
- "The Hulk" | 17-10-1, 1 NC
-
Tough wrestler, great takedown defense, intense ground and pound. Just a scary dude, and his takedown defense is phenomenal too. Seemed like someone very difficult to beat. Good in the clinch with knees too. Great cardio also. Seemed like he could stand up pretty well too.
Hes known as a guy who can make mistakes, and he showed it vs. Spann. Got caught a few times, but was a monster wrestling. But he got sloppy and caught with a choke. Still good, still a threat to almost anyone. But the mistakes are bad.
-Looked beastly early vs. Johnny Walker, but then just got caught again with a submission. A big hole for him, but he would still scare me to bet against because the wrestling and GNP is so good.
-More of the same vs. Kennedy. He looks insanely good early in fights, he landed some stand up, went straight to wrestling, but he couldn't do much on the ground. Then in round 2 he got figured out and started getting annihilated. He looks so good in stretches then makes dumb mistakes.
-Took out Boser easily. Man, he looks good and he is a finisher when he gets going. Terrifying dude, but I've seen him screw up too many times to put him any higher.
-
31
- Modestas Bukauskas
- "The Baltic Gladiator" | 15-6-0
-
Had a decent win vs. Tyson Pedro. Technical enough standing, good ground defense. But also not blowing me away with what he is throwing.
-Beat Pauga, but it could be argued he lost. Lost in strikes at least. He is technical standing, but still not amazing, and he gassed out a bit. He is OK. Got taken down once but got up.
-Lost vs. Petrino. Was taken down in the 1st round, KO'd in the 2nd. He seems solid still, but mostly average.
-
32
- Chris Daukaus
- 12-7-0
-
Got taken out by Rountree. He looks decently crisp standing at this division, but he gets shelled by all the big power guys it seems.
-
33
- Jimmy Crute
- "The Brute" | 12-4-1
-
Didn't get to see tons of him, as he got wrecked by Jamahal Hill fast, but he had a good track recoerd leading up to that point. He seems to be able to beat lower level guys easy enough, but top 15 might be too much for him right now.
-Crazy fight vs. Menifield. He got lit up standing again, but survived and was able to use his wreslting well. Cardio held up, and he got a 2nd wind of sorts. But man he is sloppy looking standing to me
-Tough loss vs. Menifield in part 2. Got hit standing again, and got caught in a guillotine on a takedown attempt. He is still young, but just having a hard time putting it all together it seems.
-
34
- Misha Cirkunov
- 15-9-0
-
Got LIT UP by Alonzo Menifield. I know from his MW fights that he has really strong wrestling, but he got stuffed right away, clearly didn't really want to stand with Alonzo and got annihilated. I know he has skills, but he just can't hang with the elite.
-
35
- Thiago Santos
- "Marreta" | 22-12-0, 1 NC
-
-Was top tier in this division, then he took some losses. Definitely has power, but he is more hesitant to use it now. Upper guy, but feels like he can be beat by the best now. But still upper echelon just on stand up.
-vs. Ankalaev, he showed some of his skills and power, but got taken down a few times, and struggled to keep a good pace going. He has been crazy tepid in his past 2 fights. Still a threat, but more on the fringe.
-Had a decent performance vs. Jamahal Hill. He actually wrestled a lot, but not something I can see him doing tons of in the future. Stand up, he looked a little sharper, but still wasn't amazing. I think he gassed in the 4th because he just isn't used to wrestling so much. Still dangerous, but at 38 and several knee surgeries, definitely not a top guy.
-
36
- Tanner Boser
- "The Bulldozer" | 21-10-1
-
Made his debut at 205. Was fighting at HW. Got caught by a beast in Ion and then that was it, but he is probably better than what he showed from what I remember of his HW fights.
-Looked pretty good vs. Aleksa. He was pretty crisp standing. Wasn't incredible, but he landed a fair bit and seemed fairly elusive.
-
37
- Nicolae Negumereanu
- "Nicu" | 13-2-0
-
Apparently he has nice wrestling, but won via KO quite quickly. His opponent was very unimpressive though, so it was tough to be super impressed.
-Wrestling didn't work as well vs. Nzech. He is a decent brawler standing, but definitely not technical there and seems light for the division. he was lucky to get a win over Kennedy based on the fight imo.
-Beat Ihor nicely. Wrestled him and GNP, and landed standing, mostly after he totally gassed out. Had some nifty clinch work. I thought he fought well but I was not sold on his opponent.
-Decided to fight Ulberg standing for some reason, and got destroyed. Ulberg might be the real deal, so I can't downgrade him from it, but clearly not close to the top standing.
-
38
- Rodolfo Bellato
- "Trator" | 12-2-0
-
His only losses are to Petrino. He had a pretty nice performance. His BJJ looks pretty scary, but he can take damage chasing submissions. Standing, he didn't look bad at all, he is very athletic, had some success in spots, but then took a monster shot. I think he deserves to be in the UFC eventually.
-Beat Ihor but he was losing the fight most of the way. He does have huge size and power, very intimidating too. But definitely not fast and relies on his chin to take damage to give damage.
-
39
- Devin Clark
- "Brown Bear" | 14-9-0
-
Beat pretty soundly by Murzakanov. Had a few moments, and definitely showed toughness, but just not on that level standing. Didn't really see much else from him, but he is tough and does have some power, just not on the level of Muza. Seemed to have good cardio at least too.
-Decent win vs. Da Un Jung. Spent a lot of time grinding him against the cage, but he was able to land just enough takedowns, and do just enough to win. Cardio held up well again in a pretty grueling match. Did not blow me away though.
-Definitely an athlete, had some success vs. Kennedy, but couldn't get the wrestling going, and got tagged several times. He is OK.
-

- Zak Cummings

Retired after his fight. Looked crisp standing, and skilled.

Beat Jordan Wright. Looked pretty good standing, but mostly was getting into the clinch and elbowing. It's not a style I see a lot of guys be super successful with, but it wasn't a bad debut.
-Close fight vs. Modestos. He still isn't very technical standing, but he was landing and held up pretty well.

Got beaten up by Tanner Boser. He showed skill, toughness, and cardio, so I don't think he is terrible, but clearly was not on Tanner's level.

Has serious knock out power. Not a lot of movement though, only head hunts even when other openings are obvious. Not a lot of combos. He can wipe out lesser fighters for now, but I still wasn't sold on him.
-Got taken out by Dustin Jacoby. It was close before then, but same issues. Still just not sold on him.
-Lost to Devin Clark. It was a weird, stagnant fight. He looked OK everywhere, but not great anywhere. Had decent takedown defense, some grappling. Stand up was OK. It wasn't, but definitely underwhelming.
-Lost vs. Ulberg. Stayed in his range most of the fight, which got him in trouble. Did get a takedown, but eventually was reversed and submitted. He isn't totally terrible, but just hasn't been able to put it together.

Was losing early vs. Rong Fan standing, but then got a nice submission off a shot. Didn't love the performance based on the quality of the opponent though.

Looks OK standing but not elite. Had OK takedown defense but not perfect. Also definitely gassed. He is competent, but very beatable.
-Weird win vs. Knight. He basically just threw leg kicks and won. Tough to upgrade him much off it, but he definitely looks nimble, and the kicks are nice.
-Lost vs. Petrino. Just didn't show much. Had some OK stand up fights, but looked shook easily, got taken down really easily, didn't show much dawg, really wasn't impressed at all.

SHowed good takedown defense vs. Silvera. His stand up seemed very basic, but he has some success and has some power. Hes OK but nothing special.

Lost vs. Petrino. He gets taken down a bit too easily. Stand up is OK, but nothing special. Has some wrestling, but got reversed out of some great positions. Showed a lot of holes, and is only serviceable at best. But this division is not great, so he is still decent for the division.
-Got taken out by Tyson Pedro. He just isn't at the level of even the mid-tier guys at this division.

KSW champ. Pretty patient stand up fighter, has decent striking, though he looked sloppy at times. He had great takedown defense and was able to keep the fight standing almost all 5 rounds.

Fought an elite fighter in Nemkov, and just wasn't ready for that level of competition. Seemed well rounded, with boxing as his biggest strength.
-vs. Phil Davis, he was taken down repeatedly. Just doesn't have the grappling for the upper levels.

Got hit and choked out in 20 seconds on PFL. Didn't see much of him.
-Showed a bit more vs. Wilkinson. Known as a finisher. Landed a few nice shots, but lost a grappling exchange and then got lit up by Wilkinson. He is definitely aggressive and dangerous, but he has holes.

Wrestler. Had a few takedowns vs. Omari, but couldnt keep him down or do much with them. Stand up, he really didn't look very comfortable or throw much. Wrestling can help, but he is still pretty low level overall.

Had a rough performance vs. Krylov, got absolutely decimated. He still has a good enough track record, where I have to rank him with some respect, but he didn't show much there.

Was KSW champ, but was very tepid standing, then couldn't get takedowns, and even when he did get 1 and got his opponents back, he couldn't finish him. Just did not wow me despite being a long reigning KSW champ before losing it.

- Mingyang Zhang
- "Mountain Tiger" | 17-6-0

Pretty ferocious stand up fighter from China. Has power and is willing to throw. He got tagged a fair bit too, his head movement and defense aren't great, but he can win stand up fights for sure. Didn't really see him deal with much wrestling.
-
55
- Rong Fan
- "King Kong Warrior" | 19-5-0

ONE fighter. Seemed kind of below average at everything.
-Actually looked pretty good standing vs. Aung in ONE, but then he went for a shot and got submitted fast. He at least showed he is a pretty good stand up fighter, but the submission defense seems bad.
-

- Luke Trainer
- "The Gent" | 8-1-0

Young prospect. Showed toughness and a little bit of everything, but wasn't amazing anywhere. Got tagged standing multiple times. Seemed more comfortable grappling, but has work to do.
-Picked up a nice win in Bellator. He got taken down, but reversed it and got a finish. Still wasn't fighting anyone amazing, but showed his competence on the ground.

Kickboxer, but didn't really blow me away with the kickboxing. Newer to LHW, and maybe he really needed that size edge from MW. Was very tepid. Clearly some skill, but got lit up up Rountree.
-Had a tough performance vs. Kennedy. Had just pathetic looking defense vs. a guy I hadn't seen wrestle before. Stand up looked OK, but not amazing. Got GNP'd to finish and couldn't mount much resistance to it.

Seemed like a brawler. Landed some big blows vs. Mingyang but took way more than he dished out and got KO'd. Didn't see much of his other skills. Road to UFC guy.

Had nice speed vs. Luke Trainer, which helps compensate for his general sloppiness. But he had some power, and a few good grapling moments. Also got reversed out of some good positions a few times.
-
64
- Shamil Gamzatov
- "Maverick" | 14-1-0

Was undefeated coming into the fight, but then got outclassed on his feet. Not terrible standing, but might be more of a wrestler. Was indefeated going in, so he still should have potential.

Usually fights at MW. Had a really subpar performance vs. Pauga. He just got put against the cage, and didn't seem to offer tons of resistance. He looks OK standing, but I think he was so worried about gassing out that he didn't do much. Just a weird fight, not sure if I'll see him at this weight class again even though he didn't necessarily look small.

He has nice size for the division, but he is older and pretty inactive. Didn't looked terrible when he tried to go for it, but I haven't seen him do that in both fights of his I have watched so far.
-Got wrecked by Lins. He is starting to look pretty washed to me.
-

- Maurício Rua
- "Shogun" | 27-14-1

Legend, but he is 40. Pretty inactive, not too explosive. Decent leg kicks, not much power. Just looking to counter. Lost to a fighter I don't consider to be very good.
-Retired. Had a few moments standing in his last fight, but age and damage have caught up to him.

Wrestler. Got outwrestled by a crazy good prospect, so might have just run into bad luck for his opponent. Wouldn't be shocked to see him come back to DWCS.

-Pretty much a pure stand up fighter. Has some power but didn't see tons else. Got destroyed by leg kicks, and by alonzos stand up
-Retired. He showed toughness, but his chin was in the air, and he was getting shelled like crazy.

Big aggressive stand up fighter. If he lands he can end it, but he is wild, and his takedown defense and ground game seemed very subpar.

-Kind of out of shape. Stuffed a takedown, but his striking defense looked bad, and he looked uncomfortable fast. Cant see him beating anyone decent, and hes already 37.
-More of the same vs. Tyson Pedro. Leg kicks really **** him up fast. He is old, out of shape, and washed.
