He spent 15+ minutes on the back against Colby and Usman who are the 2 best wrestlers WW has seen in quite a while and who keep all their opponents either clinched up or on the ground lol.

He got knocked out once in his 50+ fight career by that same Usman who threw a punch he never will and never was able to recreate in his life, whether in the gym or in the octagon, like that was the most perfect punch that man ever threw as a fighter.

How is his grappling terrible? Who has he grappled with that would make you say that? Either way, I'm still leaning Burns, but to think he's going to get cleared like some bum is ridiculous

Burns x Masvidal

Predictions: 7 of 12 Winners, 4 Perfect, 490 Points   |   Tied for 810th

I'm just waiting to see the over 1.5 and the over 2.5 for this fight. Probably the best value to attack this one, cause I don't think Burns is gonna do to Masvidal the same thing he did to Magny. There's no value in Burns ML, unfortunately.

@cauliflower they had to shut down late 2022 because they ran out of cash. They’re also on a hiatus since khabib has stepped away from mma. Imo, I think they are done with US operations

This is my bias speaking but Masvidal is a bum, he got worked by Colby in every facet and looked like he was declining. It wasn’t close, Burns is gonna have his way with Masvidal. It’s gonna be 30-27 or a finish

It really wasn't that "perfect of a punch". It was a KO that Masvidal presented to Usman on a platter because he's bad. There was no technique involved there. What Usman did to Burns was way more impressive, because that was an actual display of some skill.

I don't know what else I'm really supposed to say. You admit he got out-classed by Usman and Colby yet he's fighting the same caliber opponent. I never said he was going to get "cleared like a bum". I just think anyone picking Masvidal is high as a kite. I think he can make this interesting for a round and thats probably it.

Nah I think if this was 5 rounds it would be an ass whooping but Jorge is very hard to put away and can put together a good round against just about anybody off heart and will power alone. But yes, he's never really been that great and he's clearly declining. Even saying that though, I think he can do enough to not get completely dominated let alone finished.

I see this going similar to the Burns/Thompson fight. I think Jorge wins either round 1 or 2 but not both, and will decidedly lose round 3 due to gassing from all of the grappling they've likely done up until that point.

29-28 Burns.

So getting finished twice in 50 fights in a span of 12 years makes you a bad striker? Ok

Big flag on the play there. Easily suspension worthy. There's a fine line between not being a fan of the CCP and being straight up racist people. Good grief.

No but getting flattened by a decision machine because you threw a lazy hook without your other hand up sure makes you look like a bad striker when compared to the rest of your peers ranked atop a division in the best promotion on the planet.

Yeah, he was sloppy because they already fought and he was convinced Usman had nothing to offer him, while Usman was specifically training for that KO.

Its a bad look, doesn't make him a bad striker overall

Jorges striking is obviously good compared to many fighters, but it's nothing special when your'e comparing him to actual top 5 welterweights. Calling him a bad striker wasn't a great choice of words.

To play devil's advocate, who has better striking at WW in the top 5 than him? And don't say Usman and Colby because we all know the wrestling threat changes a lot of things in these exchanges when you constantly have to think if the dude is gonna change levels, blast double or get you against the cage which instantly loses you the round.

I'll say Leon is definitely more technical and has a better kick game but I'd still favor Jorge in boxing, and Gilbert isn't really that good of a striker, he just has real pop in his punches.
