Inactivity

Predictions: 8 of 12 Winners, 6 Perfect, 625 Points   |   591st Place

Much has been made of McGregor’s inactivity, but for me more important is how active Poirier has been. He has rounded out so much as a fighter, he has many avenues to victory. While McGregor probably has only one likely way of winning (KO early). How much pressure Poirier feels will also be a factor but again with his experience I think he will overcome that. Is it time yet?

Predictions: 8 of 12 Winners, 1 Perfect, 440 Points   |   Tied for 2938th

Poirier vs. McGregor III
Dustin Poirier, SUB, R3
McGregor began his run in the UFC with a style where he mixed good precision with his punches along with a good kick that managed to open spaces and maintain distance. His transition to practically a boxer in his stand-up fight (after KO in 11 seconds at UFC 194) reduced much of his weapons as a fighter. For his part, Poirier was a fighter who improved year after year adding new weapons to his arsenal and who managed to rise from his defeats to form an impressive run where he finished Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje, Eddie Alvarez (former UFC champions) for for Last defeating Max Holloway to become interim champion of the category, despite being defeated by Khabib, Poirier managed to rise up and believe through that experience. Conor has a good chance of achieving a TKO in the first 7 minutes, but I think his main problem is that Conor thinks he can beat Dustin in the same way as he did 7 years ago (Both have changed their way of fighting with the passage of the years). I think in a fight with a close start, Dustin will get the position of control that can lead to an arm-triangle choke or rear-naked choke. This result would not be the end of Conor as such, he is a figure that moves masses in and out of MMA and his fights against RDA, the Triology against Nate Diaz or even a superfight against Masvidal would be huge successes in ppv buys. What is true is that a possible defeat would leave Conor far from the belt scene.

Aldana vs. Kunitskaya
Yana Kunitskaya, DEC
I changed my pick after the weigh-ins because the issue of menstruation is not only going to affect Aldana for the issue of weight. The loss of blood can cause a temporary decrease in your physical capacities, I think Kunistkaya will have a clear advantage with respect to the issue of physical strength, and if the fight already seemed close, this pushes the balance in favor of the Russian.

Hall vs. Topuria
Ilia Topuria, DEC
Ryan Hall is a decorated grappler, with an unorthodox scramble and a very good kicking game. But Topuria beat in Zalal even a fighter with greater ability to taked down than Hall, he beat in Damon Jackson a grappler with greater ability to press to close distances. Although Hall will have in his favor his dangerousness with the leg locks this is the first time almost 5 years that he will face a fighter in his best physical condition (Maynard and Penn were practically in retirement and Elkins was no longer the same after so many wars ). A very important factor is the fact that Topuria is black belt in BJJ which can influence his ability to defend leg locks attempts and 50/50 position scrambles. Hall may be saddened by fighting a few times a year and his layoff of more than a year, as he faces a fighter who has a higher pace of fighting often.

Du Plessis and Giles both have 2 losses and all 4 of those losses are by 3rd round stoppage... Kinda an odd cool fact.

Jingoistic New Predictions

Predictions: 8 of 9 Winners, 4 Perfect, 500 Points   |   Tied for 2169th

Burns vs. Thompson
I elect Stephen Thompson at -160. He has a woebegone diet. Thompson might implement the cake. Done!

Maia vs. Eye
I believe in Jennifer Maia at -200. She has a radical attitude and a judicious gogoplata. Maia ought to damage the enemy.

O'Malley vs. Moutinho
I have got Sean O'Malley at -900. He has a xenotropic elevator hook sweep. O'Malley should whack the counteragent.

Tuivasa vs. Hardy
I desire Tai Tuivasa at -135. He has a digital right hand. Tuivasa ought to guess the cutman.

Griffin vs. Condit
I prefer Max Griffin at -190. He has an accurate sleeper slam. Griffin could quench the unthinkable.

Price vs. Pereira
I love Michel Pereira at -165. He has a wretched indian deathlock and a creative double wrist lock. Pereira won't bury the opposing forces.

Hall vs. Topuria
I embrace Ilia Topuria at -250. He has a killer suplex. Topuria will coach the opposing forces.

Zhumagulov vs. Rivera
I believe in Zhalgas Zhumagulov at -345. He has a qualified head coach. Zhumagulov will vaporize the opposing forces.

Akhmedov vs. Tavares
I have a crush on Brad Tavares at -170. He has a maniacal jab. Tavares will warp the production.
