Figured I'd start up a thread considering that we should be getting tons of new fights, signings, etc in the next few weeks. Also, writing for mmasucka.com has it's perks. I got confirmation today I will receive all of Rizin's press releases, so that should be helpful!

Can't wait for this promotion to get going.

Bibiano said RIZIN made an offer but ONE wants him to defend his title soon so he probably won't be on the NYE event.

Minowaman is fighting the day after Christmas in ROAD FC so I doubt we see him on NYE.

I doubt Fujita leaves IGF on NYE.

Big Shig and Sakakibara both said the Jaideep rumors were false with the later saying Jaideep isn't even ready for RIZIN, by extension I'm assuming that means no Toyota as well.

I'm curious too. Where are you getting all of these tentative signings and potential signings from? Are you just writing up random fighters names and thinking "Hey, maybe they'll fight in RIZIN?" Because I haven't seen rumors, links or ties to about 87% of the fighters you have listed.

I forget where I read info on the tentative list, but the fighters on the potential list were all just guesses of who they maybe looking at, if I'm going to be honest.  My apologies.

Takaya vs. ‘DJ.taiki,’ Souwer vs. Nagashima, and 2 more added

Takaya will tangle with the man known as “DJ.taiki,” Daiki Hata, in a 143-pound bout, while Souwer is set to meet fellow K-1 MAX veteran Yuichiro “Jienotsu” Nagashima at 159 pounds. Both matchups will consist of a 10-minute opening round followed by two five-minute rounds, with the possibility of a five-minute overtime round.

The other 2 bouts consist of Yuki Motoya vs Nam Jin Jo, at 125 pounds, and Rena Kubota making her MMA debut against Italian newcomer Jleana Valentino

Source sherdog and Rizin web. As noted above the Takaya vs. ‘DJ.taiki,’ and the Souwer vs. Nagashima will be 10-minute opening + two five-minute rounds, with a possible five-minute overtime round. No word of the length of the other two bouts

It's cool. I was just curious as there's a ton of names on those lists that are highly unlikely. Fujita, ***uda and Minowaman for example.

Akebono back in the gym

Kizaemon in there too. Been wondering what he was up to, hasn't fought since January. He would be a cool pickup being a young and talented Kickboxing crossover that seems to be set on MMA. He could be a legitimate star.

Sakakibara is the newest disciple of Yukarin

It's a weird day when Akebono/Bob Sapp gets announced and is only the 3rd biggest freakshow fight announced that day. Weird that Sapp gets yet another fight after admitting to throwing fights but maybe Sakakibara's backers can pay him enough to try and KO Akebono for thirty seconds before they both gas.

It was 'confirmed' by Inside MMA. They also reported that their "sources in Japan" have told them that Fedor/TK III is a go, but Jerry Millen says ********. Idk who to believe anymore. This night is bizarre af.

I'm still confused over the three-night event ... you guys know if we've got it right for now? That Aoki-Saku is on the 29, not the 31?

if I remember correctly, the original press release said that Aoki/Saku was on the 29th. I could be wrong though.

@MikeLovesTacos  You are correct.  Saku/Aoki is the main event on the 29th and Fedor's return is the main event on the 31st.

Most of the old PRIDE guys will likely be on the 29th since the theme is basically a final ode to PRIDE. The 31st is supposed to be the new beginning.

I also saw Sherdog claiming the round structure was 10 min opening, plus two five-minute rounds and a third five-minute round in the case of a draw.

Sounds wrong to me. That would be three round fights, meaning you don't need an overtime round. I set them as the original Pride 10-5, changing to 10-5-5 in the case of a draw after two rounds.

Sound correct?
