The fighters are weighed in and we're set for another stellar card to kick off 2015.

Some people are crapping on the prelims, but if you look closely, you can spot some dangerous potential contenders down there (Bektic, Taisumov, Tumenov, etc.)

Prelims kick off on UFC Fight Pass at 4pm ET before switching to FS1 at 5pm. At 8pm, the main card begins with Sicilia-Corassani on FOX.

Enjoy!

1) I'm gutted because Gus is one of my favorites

2) Very impressed with Rumble & both post-fight interviews

3) Just goes to show how much more skilled the lighter weight classes are. Can't get the fact that Rumble was submitted by Rich Clementi to jibe with that performance.

Makwan kinda seems like a poor-winner. Kinda ******y.

With that being said props to him and congrats on his job tonight. Fili was talking about wanting Makwan. I see that fight going very, very differently.

Was it just me or did something seem to catch Gus' attention just after the reset? They touched gloves then Gus looks to his right, then he gets tagged.

@Griffy

They touched gloves, Gus got instructions to do a front kick on the restart. Unfortunately Rumble heard the instructions too and countered it with an overhand right.

Fun fact:

Stockholm: attendance was 30,000, reported gate was 3.1 mil $
UFC 182: attendance 11,575, reported gate was 3.7 mil $

Now you see why Dana isn't in such a rush to "waste" Aldo/McGregor on a stadium show in Dublin?

Croke park can seat 80K-90K people, though I doubt Conor, as big as he may be will sell out an 80K stadium, I'd guess 45K-55K tops and it'd have to be a seriously stacked card behind him to do that.

Let's say 60K just for good measure (meaning I suck at maths and it's easier for me to estimate prices this way :) ).

That's approx. 6 mil $ gate, now subtract the extra expenses on production for a stadium show and the loss of PPV income and you can see that Conor most likely ain't getting his stadium card until he's at least defended his belt enough times for the UFC to be sure that him alone can sell out the stadium and he's defending it against a dude who's not a "PPV selling contender" and won't do great PPVs anyways.
I'm positive there are a gazillion other ins and outs ... but even without going into the finer details you can see that as of now it's not very lucrative for the UFC since they've decided to reserve all their title fights for PPVs and this is going to potentially be one of the most profiting of all potential title shots in 2015.

Another fun fact. I did not hear Arnold Swarzenegger or Will Smith or any other celebrity congratulate Anthony Johnson on his holy **** win. IMO Johnson's wins and the beating he put was way bigger than any McGregor fight.

He KO'd in the first the first guy in line for a new title shot, a guy who made the now P4P King fear for his crown, a guy who's never been ******* knocked out and only lost twice before in his life, one of those coming at the hands of the now P4P king.

Huge utter domination. McGregor on the other hand beat a handful of guys that were selected for him to be a good matchup, and had some name value. IMO as far as i like Siver, he is not the stepping stone for a title shot. Poirer was,i agree, but he didn't get the really big dogs. No Lamas, no Mendes, no Edgar, no Cub, not even Bermudez.

BEsides this, i think Rumble has a better career too, he went trough a lot of hard times, and massive effort to get where he is now, he came back from being a starved weterweight, to become the contender to the light heavyweight (!!) throne. I mean come on, McG only has a mouth in plus besides this guy, and when did it start to be a bad thing to be humble?

Rumble being Humble, getting no real deserved appreciation

Only one way to decide it. Book Rumble vs McGregor for the right to face the winner of Jones vs Aldo.
