EliteXC Wiki Update Wiki

In the final, disastrous mixed martial arts event held by EliteXC, Kimbo Slice returned to headline the promotion’s third effort on CBS. While he was originally supposed to face MMA legend and UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock in the main event, Slice ended up facing light heavyweight replacement opponent Seth Petruzelli when Shamrock injured himself while warming up. While Petruzelli was significantly smaller than Kimbo, he knocked out EliteXC’s cash cow with a retreating jab and essentially put an end to the upstart promotion.

After losing their biggest star to a natural light heavyweight just 14 seconds into the first round on national television, EliteXC lost significant investments and never put on another MMA event. Slice went on to join the UFC for a time but was later cut.
