If you're on Maheshate that's fine but all you have is what you thought of his contender series fight, that's it. It doesn't need to be rationalized by discrediting Garcia. If Maheshate looked good enough to you in that one fight to be a good dog pick here then more power to you, I'm not exactly shy at betting dogs myself.

I feel I would be going in completely blind in this one though and that the line is probably reflective of the true probabilities.

I get kinda mad at the outliers like when Dern missed weight by 7 pounds vs Amanda Cooper because of the unfair pressure it put on her opponent.

Yes Dern misses a bit of her purse but if Cooper doesn't fight she might get cut from the promotion and so she is in a unfair spot, either fight an opponent with a 7 pound weight advantage at 115 (huge % of body weight) or risk getting cut.

7 pounds means you didn't give a single **** about meeting the limit.

@jreynolds I don’t get mad at him for missing weight, missing weight happens from time to time, I’m mad at the unprofessionalism. Charles was in the wrong weight class and realized that, and fixed his game up. Idc about the most recent one cuz that was whatever; the fight wasn’t jeopardized. I’m mad at bontorin because he gets fights canned because he cuts a danergous amount of weight and isn’t professional enough to actually handle it. Instead of moving up or getting a nutritionist, he uses diuretics to cut the massive weight. It’s not a ufc only issue, he’s missed weight throughout his whole career. He even asked the ufc to make his short notice fight against schnell at 135 because he couldn’t make 125, and then proceeded to miss weight. That’s unprofessional. If you weigh 160 and have to cut a dangerous amount, you have to be responsible as you sign the dotted line saying you will make that weight. It’s disrespectful to everyone when you can’t get ur weight under control. A career of missing weight just shows he doesn’t care

@jreynolds I think he is, I literally said he should move up but he doesn’t. Did you read what I said?

Instead of moving up or getting a nutritionist, he uses diuretics to cut the massive weight

He chooses to stay at 125 where he continually misses weight. If he actually as professional, he would have moved up by now.

John Dodson made weight like a pro 🤷‍♂️ it’s possible to do just very hard. Hence why Dodson went to 135, which bontorin should do. Instead of doing the right way to cut weight. He uses banned methods which I don’t respect. If he actively tried to change the way he cuts weight, then I wouldn’t be mad at him, but he doesnt. He could go to 135, but doesn’t. That is why I am mad at him, he willingly stays in a class he struggles to make weight and doesn’t make it half the time despite cheating

Exactly, he did it the right way. I will respect you as a fighter if you can acknowledge you are in the wrong class and move up. Bontorin has always had trouble moving up and even cheats to make weight yet he stays at 125. It’s not even smart on his part; he’s literally 1-3 in his last 4. So clearly killing himself to make weight isn’t working. Why not go to 135; he weighs 160 so he’s already gonna be a huge guy there just smaller. If anything, being the smaller guy will help his wrestling. He’s an idiot

I was gungho on Pereira on Fialho gassing him out. And oh... My. God. Fialho gave him all that he wanted. At the end of the second round, you saw Hooft tell Fialho, "Ok, how bad do you want it? This is it ". And he went out and put on a fight, giving it all he had. Yeah, Pereira won the fight in my opinion, but Fialho showed something. He is improving. He is making the right changes. He is at an excellent camp. Matthews is not active. Really, he never has been (even though he has had bad luck with fighters pulling out). Matthews hasn't faced elite competition. I think Fialho has the better resume. Great that Matthews has a 2018 win over The Leech. I don't know. If he didn't get the nod there, are we even talking about him the same way? He has stuck with his dad as his coach, while Fialho has searched for ways to improve. Call me crazy, but I think Fialho proves he belongs here. I think he makes a statement that he isn't just taking fights. He has big aspirations. Although I see him as a fringe top 15 fighter.

The UFC definitely gave him a very winnable fight but I think Garcia is probably really good value as a favorite. He opened like -300 or something like that.

Maheshate has the speed and crisper striking over all. Garcia is much more well rounded and definitely hits harder. He may have worked on it, but from the tape I've seen Maheshate's wrestling is....not great. He looks pretty clueless trying to get back to his feet.

Garcia by decision is where I'm leaning, but still mulling this one over.

@foppa just something to think about. Maheshates tdd isn’t great BUT, that was his debut as a 19 y/o kid, against a combat sambo world champ, who also had pro mma experience. Obviously we have no idea what it looks like but that’s just something to account. If I was a kid making my debut against a dagestani sambo champ, I’m pretty sure I would get mauled on the ground too. Also, I wouldn’t be too heavy on Steve to Employ a wrestling heavy game plan. Charlie made him look like khabib because well, Charlie isn’t good at all. Steve doesn’t really grapple all that much anyways, he only shot because he was getting ****** up badly on the feet (how crazy is it to say that ontiveros was beating someone in the standup?). Plus from a technique standpoint, I honestly think Maheshate is a better striker. Steve has power but he’s a sloppy brawler who will throw the same shots multiple times. In maheshates dwcs fight, he showed a pretty diverse striking game
