That was 25 minutes of frustration for me. This is why I am losing my patience with the product the UFC puts on at this current point. Outside of a few flashes, Wonderboy and Till were standing around just doing fancy footwork. I understand there is a lot of strategy and tactics that now go into striking, I understand that to just fight like the Diaz bros or Gaethje all the time is not good for one's health, and I understand that fighters are reluctant to lose out of fear of getting cut or losing sponsorships. That all said, if you fight like this, constantly act timid, and don't look to get the finish out of a desire to keep sponsors, you should think about another career because you will eventually find yourself out of the UFC anyway for becoming boring. Especially if you gained attention by getting highlight reel KOs in the first place.
Like for **** sake take a chance once and a while. At least with grapplers like Maia and others, they are doing something of significance and gaining positions on the grounds that are worthy of giving points to. This is just standing around looking for openings rather than creating one. At some point you need to take a chance. It is because of this why I favor the idea of yellow carding fighters for timidity. Say what you will about promotions like RIZIN being "lower quality" and so on. At least you know every fighter is gonna go all out for a finish, because if they don't they won't be on the next card. That makes a more exciting product for the fans.
Good on Till for winning, but that was a really weak win as far as I am concerned.
