Really long title reign, amazing striking skills, and just look at his highlight reel. And Silva-Sonnen I is one of the best comebacks ever.

- Fedor Emelianenko
- "The Last Emperor"
- 40-7-0, 1 NC

Amazing undefeated streak, fought great competition, and just incredibly mentally tough: there were a lot of fights where he was hurt or in a really bad position that he won, where a lot of top fighters would have lost. I hope he stays retired; regardless of what the haters say, he has nothing to prove. Anyway, most of the people who think he was not that great would suck up to him if they ran into him in an airport or something.

Kazushi Sakuraba is a legend of the sport, or at least he is if you know more than the basics about the sport. Entertaining to watch, skilled, tons of heart. In fact, professional wrestling is strong.

In K-1 and MMA, he's one of the best heavyweight strikers.

Well-rounded, fun to watch, great sub defence.

- "Tobikan Judan"
- 48-11-0, 1 NC

Terribly rounded, fun to watch, great sub everything. Too bad his ground and pound defence, as seen in the Alvarez fight, consists of looking stunned and hoping the other guy won't jump into his guard and start hitting him.

- Joseph Benavidez

Now that he's fighting at a weight class that suits him, I think we'll see even bigger things. He was a force at 135, and I think he'll be champ at 125.

- Fabrício Werdum
- "Vai Cavalo"
- 24-9-1, 1 NC
-
A lot of people forget how good Werdum is, for whatever reason. He's got a good chin (only knockout loss was to eating a full-on JDS uppercut, and anyone who can do that and still be OK is probably an elephant or something). Amazing BJJ, but more importantly, amazing MMA BJJ. He never gets trapped on the bottom, unable to get a sub or sweep, getting punched in the face. Part of this is because people have realized that jumping into Werdum's guard is like jumping into a pit full of really mean scorpions.

Amazing chin, great striker. He got thrown to the wolves early in his MMA career, and now stands as the best fighter with an 8-7 record.

- Georges St-Pierre

Maybe the most well-rounded fighter today? And it's absolutely amazing how good of an MMA wrestler he has become, given his lack of a wrestling background.

I was really disappointed when I found out that there were no special move leg kicks in Undisputed 3.

- Chael Sonnen
- 30-17-1

Interesting thing to do: Find an interview where Sonnen is in "promo" mode, and find an interview where he's candid. The contrast is amazing. Great MMA wrestler with a fun style to watch. And most importantly, he makes you care about fights that are coming up. Plus, as a big Silva fan (see #1) Sonnen is really the only guy in a long time who's made Silva look mortal.

- Junior dos Santos
- "Cigano" | 21-10-0

This guy is full of questions. Haven't really seen him on the ground in his UFC career (because he's got great takedown defence and is good at getting up). Haven't really seen him take a lot of punishment (because he's got good defence). Great highlight reel.

Excellent wrestling, and his hands have looked very good. His fight against Barnett was a very good performance.

- Brian Stann
- "All American" | 12-6-0
-
Does anybody remember the old GI Joe cut-out things they had on the packs for the figures, with the backgrounds of the GI Joe guys? Brian Stann is like one of those come to life. He LOOKS like an action figure - look at his jaw! He could probably chip ice with it! And his life story is "Marine war hero becomes cage fighter" which is very much like a GI Joe character backstory. He also comes off as a soft-spoken individual with good sportsmanship and class.

- Frank Mir

Frank Mir seems to get a lot of undeserved hate... He's a very good fighter, and he's very dangerous on the ground. He also comes across as a very intelligent and well-spoken guy in interviews and so on. I think he really could have a bright future as a commentator or analyst once he retires from fighting.
