Nakamura vs. Vera
Rinya Nakamura, TKO, R1
Nakamura has fast explosive combos can be live for a quick standup KO here. I lean towards Nakamura to get this to the mat, use heavy top preasure, and swarm Vera with strikes to get the stoppage.

"What an excellent day for combat."

Rogério de Lima vs. Tafa
Justin Tafa, TKO, R3
I can see Pezao finding some success early. Possibly clinch up with Tafa against the fence. But if De Lima isn't successful in his takedowns and control as the fight goes on, he's going to tire out and become a one dimensional boxer. I think Tafa will eventually find the space he needs to land the KO here.

"What an excellent day for combat."

Wheres Mackenzie dern training for this camp?

Predictions: 7 of 12 Winners, 2 Perfect, 400 Points   |   Tied for 4981st

Does anyone know when dern is training for this camp? I know she was with perillo for years but know she changed coaches for the andrade fight. Anyone know whether she went back to perillo or where she's fighting at now? thanks

@Rumble1026
meh… Tafas gas tank isn’t the greatest either. And he’s only knocked pure cans. Limas knockout loss to a flying knee, to one of the hardest hitters in the division. Even the knee shot, didn’t put him out cold. I’ll take my chances here on a pure more well rounded fighter, who has shown that through out his career. Like Tafa, but issue with him is, he don’t get a knock out, he loses. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Finding it hard to get a read on Cejudo for this fight. I can't tell if he's just supremely confident he's better than Merab or if he's just mailing it in and already has one foot out the door again.

the really ****** thing is, even if Merab wins purely in a Dec. I can see UFC robbing him because they don’t like him. Hope that doesn’t happen.

If Merab wins I could see OMalley fighting for the FW title later this year, which would leave Merab destined for an interim title fight with either Sandhagen or the winner of Song/Yan.

I dont think the UFC has milked OMalley enough yet to throw him to Merab. That fight could happen in the future but I see Omalley getting another title defense in first.

Now if Cejudo wins its a totally different story. I think the UFC has no problem marketing that fight since Cejudo is a former champion.

absolutely agree. On paper Merab should absolutely win this. But it makes me worry what UFC intentions are. So I’m thinking maybe the only realistic bet I can have on this fight is, fight goes to distance. The payout is horrible, but maybe I’ll add it to a parlay leg

Amanda Lemos, TKO, R2
Dern is hittable and Lemos has unmatched power for her division i see her catching dern with hard shots and break her will.

I agree, Lima is underlooked here. He completely demolished Rothwell in 35 seconds and gave Salsa Verde Boy his first defeat. Sure, those are nothing to boast about but they're better than the opponents that Tafa beat, and I'm a Tafa fan. Tafa knocked out Austin Lane, who isn't anything in the UFC, he knocked out whoever tf Harry Hunsucker is. Mind you, Tafa lost to Jared Vanderaa, whose only win is against Tafa. I guess knocking out the GOAT Porter is okay but he's nothing really to what Lima faced in his whole career.

Crazy to think we went from wondering if Topuria could kick Paddy the Baddy's ass to now being 50/50 on him against Volkanovski 🤯

I can see Volk winning and I can see Topuria winning. I can see Volk dominating but I can't see Topuria dominating. I guess that sums up my thoughts on the fight the most succinctly.

lol yeah Ilia was just joking around when he said he would ko Emmett in 1 and then went to a 5 round decision where he landed 8 sig strikes in the 5th round... Volk will show him what real championship rounds look like

it's easy to say that now that Ilia looks like a future champ and Paddy looks like he's not going to live up to the hype, but back then it was a legit topic of discussion in the mma community
